Unfortunately for Romney, he doesn't have as many scenarios to get to 270 as President Obama does.
I agree. The path to 270 is very difficult for Romney

I don't think President Obama breaks 300 EVs, but he won't be sweating it out at 1 AM either

Governor Romney's surrogates tried to keep from even mentioning his name. President Obama's surrogates couldn't talk enough about what a steady, decisive leader he's been.
Still, the suppression of voters could swing it for the Republicans. (Once again, they have to play dirty to win/steal yet another election because we the people will not accept their nutty platform of ideas.)
Of course any victory by a Republican is stolen. Now this is definately a typical DU type post. BTW I'd like to point out that currently the enthusiasm gap doesn't favor the President.

    nonniey,

Do you disagree with the notion that the GOP is trying to suppress votes?

I'm inclined to agree, though I don't know if Obama's coattails will be long enough to carry enough representatives to take back the House.

I'll be real interested to see how Mitt Romney does on Meet the Press this weekend and if David Gregory has any real backbone.
Does he ask him about his changing positions, about his different views on Afghanistan, immigration, etc?
Does he let Romney not answer questions or does he hold his feet to the fire the was Russert would? (Same goes for when Obama is on there)

I doubt if Romney's handlers will let it happen.

My question would be..how do you solve the unemployment problem with taxcuts, when taxes are at historically low rates already?

I'd like him to ask Romney how he will pay for the tax cuts and which deductions will be cut. When he doesn't answer, he needs to follow up with tough questions about the math being put forward.

Nobody has any idea on what Romney would do. He hasn't told us what his details are. We only have his record as Governor because that's the closest thing you can relate to the job he wants to take. The Bain stuff is well and good, but even that is being used like a baseball stat between two picked dates and not including the whole picture.

As far as the GOP, you have folks who didn't make much noise when the economy was shedding 800+ jobs a month. But since its been growing, you get the complaints on how the growth has been too slow. Isn't that better than the 800+ lost a month?

I'll ask again. What does Romney stand for? Really? What is he standing for today that he wasn't on the other side of yesterday?

Last month we had more jobs added but the unemployment rate went up. This month its the opposite. So, which is what?

I think this is one of the most important things that the press rarely does, or rarely does well, in interviews with the candidates. Sometimes they will ask a good question but when the candidate either talks around the subject, repeats vague talking points, or goes into attack mode, the interviewer rarely keeps their feet to the fire and calls them on it or asks follow up questions to get more info. Or if they do they then get bitched at for "badgering" or asking "gotcha" questions, or get painted as being "in the corner" of the other candidate. Pretty stupid stuff.

Huh, Fox News interview presses a little bit (more than they usually do) on specifics for Romney's plan. Not that he actually got an answer...

"The key is presidential leadership". But when asked what a President Romney would propose he basically seems to say Romney would take directions from Congress as opposed to putting forward his own plan.

It's a typical political post in any open forum from at least someone (usually a few someones).

I generally respect your posts over the years as a member, whether we agreed or not (and its often been both).

Now I too disagree with mi amiga brandy's framing of the "stealing" thing even if I it's something I can at east see where it's coming from (that it's not "pure crazy"). I do find it a bit extreme.

But while I know the "DU" thing is the theme of the week here and will be seized upon by those who are so much like the very type of thing they decry (seems to be an endemic situation), but people will continue to be people.

However, if we're going to analyze posts (which is fine), in the same spirit as you just did I will note that I have watched yours become another example of comments from a specific poster on the "right" continuing to edge towards a more distorted and even occasional semi--frothing nature from what once may have been their very partisan perspective, but still generally fairly rational one within that qualification (I apply the same view on any affiliations or biases).

I know I'd like to see, and am on record as such, a bit more of an intelligent balance of right v left here, but I underline that key word.

If we're to say there's "DU type" posts around here, they certainly share company with "Free Republic type" posts. See how that works? But if someone really wants to deal with actual DU or Freeper posts, go and read/post there---not here---this is ES.

If anyone of any viewpoint wants to raise the quality level of the political conservation here, then I suggest they don't attempt it by adding to the lowering of it.

Finally, as TK (who is effectively apolitical but has a bloodhound's nose for dumbass in the universal sense) notes," every election year the tialgate gets extra..." <I can't use his words >.

This, in a nutshell, is why Romney won't win a winnable election. He's just incapable of taking a principled stand on any issue.
