Ok, that has nothing to do with qualifications for President, and even though I'm not a supporter, I know Mitt is an intelligent and educated guy, so WTF was he thinking?

Maybe he's just tired. The 24/7 campaign thing is pretty damn grueling. Reminds me of Obama's 57 states comment (although the far right wing took that one seriously and still does )

Don't go down that road. It doesn't become us. Romney is a very intelligent and well educated person.

    What. The. Hell.

I read the headline without glancing at the URL first and thought "haha...The Onion..." then saw it wasn't and became confused.

There has to be some kind of mistake or something, I mean...no functioning adult allowed to live by themselves could not realize the problem with that.

I would imagine he was speaking of a means to vent or flush the smoke since the windows obviously are not a option.....or he could just be a highly educated idiot.(my favorite default position with the Harvard alums )

    Did he mean every passenger?
There is such a thing as smoke elimination valves and even sliding windows in cockpits.

Why don't windows on submarines open?
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."

His commentary was in the lack of circulation of clean air on a plane in an emergency. He didn't say people should have opening windows. Candidates talk for thousands of hours and it is all scrutinized. Tiredness sets in and thoughtstate not articulated clearly. Words and meanings get twisted and the spin doctors run with it. The headline in the original article was intended as a cheap shot. He never said people should be able to open their windows.

We don't need to resort to that kind of thing to defeat Romney and Ryan.

Yet, he didn't say valves, he was talking about opening windows...and cockpit windows already open.
twa....why in the world do you always have to twist and squirm to dfend every fricking thing Rmoney says regardless of how stupid?
Read Mitt's words...he doesn't understand why airplane windows don't open, they don't open because if they did it would make h TSA an all airport security irrelevant, you wouldn't need bombs on board planes.

I agree, but why not just say, "gee, that was dumb to say" rather than defend it and rationalize it?

If elected, I think Romney should get on that. Because of the lack of windows that can open air is recirculated which makes airplane cabins less healthy environments. The biggest question is we do install these new windows should they be push button or come with a crank. Equally importantly, should they have child safety locks.

Clearly, Romney did not think this through.
