How do you reconcile +9 point Obama leads if Romney leads with BOTH independents & Republicans? And do you REALLY believe that Obama is doing better among democrats than Romney is among republicans by enough to make up for that difference. Do you REALLY?

    John Nolte puts it best:

    Florida:

In 2004 the vote was R+4.
In 2008 the vote was D+3
CBS/NYTs is reporting that in 2012 we will see D+9.

    Ohio:
In 2004 the vote was R+5
In 2008 the vote was D+8
CBS/NYTs is reporting that in 2012 we will see D+9

    Pennsylvania:

In 2010 the vote was D+3
In 2008 the vote was D+7
CBS/NYTs is reporting that in 2012 we will see D+9.

Again, why won’t the media report the dramatic news that Democrats are expected to turnout in record numbers against Republicans?

Because the media doesn’t believe it.

This isn’t reporting, this is propaganda and frankly after Romney wins should be treated as an in-kind contribution to the DNC, these are also not the tactics of a side that is winning.
It's fun to see conservative political mythology develop in real time. "All the polls are all suddenly slanted for the Democrats! The multiple independent pollsters have no interest in being correct (even though being as correct as possible is how pollsters keep the trust of their corporate clients and stay in business), no, they are all shilling for Obama. FoxNews, which shows Obama ahead in multiple battleground states as well as nationally ... is really secretly in the tank for their boy Obama. The Wall Street Journal, which expresses its love for Obama at every opportunity, is cooking its books to hide the fact that Romney is actually ahead. Even Rasmussen is now owned by Obama. Only a brave handful of conservative bloggers see reality for what it really is: Romney is actually ahead by 10 points! Of course, Romney's own internal polling must show this, but he is keeping those results secret for strategic purposes rather than leaking them to the press..."

It's beautiful to watch the story develop in their minds.

"The Internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea: massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it" - I wish I had said this.

Party ID is used in weighed polls....giving the poll numbers is irrelevant

I could give the historical party ID numbers from gallup or Rass, but it is reflected in the exit poll number .

LA Times: Tea party groups work to remove names from Ohio voter rolls

    http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...0,811761.story

Lori Monroe, a 40-year-old Democrat who lives in central Ohio, was startled a few weeks ago to open a letter that said a stranger was challenging her right to vote in the presidential election.

Monroe, who was recovering from cancer surgery, called the local election board to protest. A local tea party leader was trying to strike Monroe from the voter rolls for a reason that made no sense: Her apartment building in Lancaster was listed as a commercial property.

"I'm like, really? Seriously?" Monroe said. "I've lived here seven years, and now I'm getting challenged?"

Monroe's is one of at least 2,100 names that tea party groups have sought to remove from Ohio's voter rosters.

The groups and their allies describe it as a citizen movement to prevent ballot fraud, although the Republican secretary of state said in an interview that he knew of no evidence that any more than a handful of illegal votes had been cast in Ohio in the last few presidential elections.

"We're all about election integrity — making sure everyone who votes is registered and qualified voters," said Mary Siegel, one of the leaders of the Ohio effort.

Some Democrats see it as a targeted vote-suppression drive. The names selected for purging include hundreds of college students, trailer park residents, homeless people and African Americans in counties President Obama won in 2008.

The battle over who belongs on the voter rolls in Ohio comes as supporters of Obama and his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, are making elaborate plans to monitor the polls and mount legal challenges after the Nov. 6 election if necessary.

Obama's reelection campaign and Romney allies are already fighting in court over Republican efforts to block Ohio voters from casting ballots the weekend before the election. In 2008, Ohio's final weekend of early voting drew tens of thousands of African Americans to cast ballots, mainly for Obama.

The question is whether or not the poll numbers prior to elections are accurate....you show exit polls for party identification which doesn't even say how they voted....

Has anyone else noticed the complete lack of political bumper stickers this presidential election? I just saw my first Romney sticker today.

I prefer to think that most people have realized that #1. Those stickers were always dumb. and #2. Too many people can't put one on straight anyway.

Percent identifying as R is considerably more volatile than D.

I have also heard the opinion that pollsters should concentrate on getting the right demographic mix rather than party affiliation.

The request was for the actual breakdown of R D I Other for each year, which you get from exit polls IF it is actually the voting population you are interested in.
    Or from polls
    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ...ty_affiliation

which do you think are most accurate?

I was also looking for the breakdown of affiliation numbers for the current polls. Regardless, the Weekly Standard piece basically validates the RCP average that I like to go with, which is now Obama +4. If you look at the electoral college breakdown, that is terrible for Romney.

Remember that Clipse song "Grindin'"? I'd love to remix that, replace Grindin' with Graspin' and have it be the GOP theme song. I really hope they'll be able to handle the wake up call on election day. I've seen terms like "psychic break" starting to be tossed around.

    @wolfblitzer
It's interesting @KarlRove blasts major battleground state polls except Fox news state polls which are consistent w/ others.
