Maybe I am slow today, but I am failing to see a) where the US would have more troops overseas with a Romney presidency and b) any significant departure from the Bush/Obama foreign policy.
Can anyone point specifics?![]()

LMAO...people will go to weird lengths to bash someone they don't like. Romney has never advocated troops on the ground in Iran.
What specifically with Iran though? Where the red line is?
I understand how close Romney and Bibi are, but part of longstanding US policy with Israel, going back to R and D admins, is to make sure Israel doesn't pull us into a war.
How in the hell are we even going to get troops into Iran?
From what I am reading in this thread, Romney today said "we are invading Iran"
I am not seeing that in the transcript

Thank you.
I already see very troublesome aspects of what a Romney FP would represent, namely with some of his advisors that he has and that there is no significant change from the last 11 years of US foreign policy.
I am not seeing where all of a sudden we are invading Iran with 200k troops
If anything, based on actions, I would be worried that the current Admin will utilize drone strikes over Iran to eliminate the nuclear program. It would fall into line of the actions this administration has done the last 4 years

I don't think Romney has the balls to stand up to Netanyahu. I think he would allow israel to attack Iran and that we'd be drawn into a war after Iran retaliates. I'm basing this on GOP's stance on Israel, Iran, and foreign policy since Bush. Has Romney stated specifically he'd do that? No but he hadn't been specific about anything. But I think it's a fair projection based on how the GOP has responded to anything to do w/ Iran.

Why wouldn't we have just done this back in 2006 when Israel was drawn into a mini war?
I just don't see where Romney has indicated today, or at all, that suddenly we are going to have a war with Iran. A war with Iran has been scared into us and "imminent" since 2002, which is why I tend to ignore the bluster on Iran, its so called nuclear program and any way with Iran

Can we parse this statement?
Romney focused on the fault lines of Libya, Egypt and especially Syria, where he said Obama has "failed" to lead. Departing from current U.S. policy, Romney said he would work with U.S. allies to "identify and organize those members of the opposition who share our values and then ensure that they obtain the arms they need to defeat" Bashar Assad's forces.
"Iran is sending arms to Assad because they know his downfall would be a strategic defeat for them. We should be working no less vigorously through our international partners to support the many Syrians who would deliver that defeat to Iran -- rather than sitting on the sidelines," Romney said.

Who are "our international partners?" Israel? What exactly are we going to send to Syria? Guns? Rockets? Humvees? Tanks? Drones? Special forces? Marines?
