He, we got wise to what they were up to, so they stopped doing it, and The Truth was revealed.

More like America thought Obama punked out and people who were already Republicans finally have a reason to vote for Mitt other than "he's not Obama."

You were amongst the loudest saying the polls seemed funny. Now those same polls show movement in Romney's favor and they're fine, huh? Interesting.

“The size of our Navy is at levels not seen since 1916. I will restore our Navy to the size needed to fulfill our missions by building 15 ships per year, including three submarines.”
    — Mitt Romney, speech at Virginia Military Institute, Oct. 8, 2012

We will leave analysis of the GOP presidential nominee’s major foreign-policy address to the pundits, though we were pleased to see that he did not repeat his frequent claim that Obama “apologized” for America — a phrase we and other fact-checkers have long debunked.
Still, we were interested in his assertion about the size of the Navy. Is the Navy really in the worst shape it has been in 96 years?

Don't really need to click the link to answer that one.

Although I suppose it might be amusing to read the obligatory statement from some campaign spokesman, about how "well, if you take this one thing, and then index it against this other thing, and adjust for this other thing, then well, what he said kind of sort of looks kind of like being true."

Basically Romney trying to compare the random tiny boats and ships they had in 1916 to the massive aircraft carriers of today.

It's one thing to draw distinctions, it's another thing to vow to ramp up military spending and be more aggressive on the military front. I'd love for conservatives to explain how we will be able to afford this plan of action.

It's silly. I think most Americans would agree that we don't need a bigger military. I think most Americans would agree that we need a military force that can protect us, not one that literally dwarfs the size of every other military force on the planet, just for the sake of appearing "strong" to other people. As if strength has to be our ability to blow up every civilization on the planet at a moment's notice.

I think the Conservatives do a good job of acknowledging that they don't give a crap about paying for anything.

Also recalling a routine Mark Russel did, decades ago.

Candidate Reagan had announced that he supported "state's rights". And the Left had gone Ape, announcing that this phrase was a "code word" to tell his audience that he supported racism and segregation.

So Mark Russel did a comedy routine, in which he explained to his audience what other political "code words" were, and what they actually meant.

Whenever a candidate announces that "i support a strong national defense, including a four-ocean navy", what he's really saying is either "Gee, it's great to be here in Norfolk" or "Gee, it's great to be here in San Diego"

Recalling another Mark Russel line, shortly into the W administration.

Well, we've got our war. Now all we need to decide on is how to pay for it. But don't worry. If I know this Congress, it'll only take 3 or 4 more tax cuts.

Romney knew ex-SEAL slain in Benghazi

Mitt Romney knew one of the former Navy SEALs killed in this year's Sept. 11 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, he told an Iowa audience Tuesday.

The GOP presidential nominee choked up as he described meeting the man his campaign confirmed was Glen Doherty, who was killed in the Libya attack.

"We had a lot of things in common," Romney said of Doherty, recalling the two had skied at some of the same places, and that when they met Doherty had discussed his care and concern for people he had met working in the Middle East. "You can imagine how I felt when I found out that he was one of the two former Navy SEALs killed in Benghazi on Sept. 11th."

Romney only recently learned for certain that Doherty was the same man he had met at a party in La Jolla, California, a campaign spokesman said.

Polls will show whatever you desire to see...even the truth if you can divine it.
