People try to invaldiate every success Barack Obama has ever had as either 1.) an act of affirmative action or 2.) some vast, decades long conspiracy theory. For some reason it's harder to admit the success of an African-American man more or less living what they constantly defined by politicians.

    C'mon...
the number of undecided people is so small and insignificant, I really doubt even changing half of THEIR votes will make any difference.
Whichever this election will go is already decided.
We're just waiting for the formality of actually voting and counting it up to see which way it falls.
How do you explain the significant swing in the polls after the first debate? I find it hard to believe that some people have not made up their minds, and that some seem to be wavering back and forth, but those are unfortunately the people who decide close elections. I saw a quote about Ryan wasting time talking about Netanyahu, because the undecided voters have no idea who he is. It is also why Romney could see an uptick from contradicting previous positions, because the undecideds largely do not know what his previous positions are.

Yeah, there are a lot of people who don;t start paying attention till 2-3 weeks before the election.

And what's really scary is, those are often the people who decide the election.

I agree, and the reasons they choose sometimes boggles my mind
I disagree with many of you,but at least most have what I consider valid reasons

Believe it or not, the election is impacting sales in my restaurant. I've seen my income decrease a little more than usual this time of year (back to school, etc.), but it's not b/c folks aren't tipping well. Overall, that hasn't changed, percentage-wise, still kickin' butt. Just fewer folks coming out to eat right now.

And they seem to all vote on what the candidates look like or some superficial bull**** and not actual issues.

I was living on tips when the recession started. **** absolutely killed me. My tips were cut in half seemingly overnight. Never really recovered either. And this is in the area probably least hit by the recession and with an unemployment rate under 6%

I lost 30% when the smoking ban went into effect! The '94 baseball strike nearly wiped me out,(ok that's stupid, but it hurt), so the economy and how people feel about it affects the people most people don't really see.

    I explain like this

    Polls???

    seriously.. polls?

1000 calls answered represents 300millon+ people.
If I want any answerr, ian manipulate my questioning, and I can choose where and when I call to get the results I want.

    Polls.
Seriously,, you may as well cite comic book sales in Fiji.

I can't believe this Romney surge. It's amazing... He is out Obama-ing Obama.

Obama and his crazy old man running mate are really tanking it.

It's actually not that surprising considering his horrid job record and 4 years of broken promises and lies.
What broken promises and lies are those?

I do not take any one poll very seriously but they are, when looked at collectively, reliable predictors of the outcomes of elections. With the changes in ways people communicate (cell phones) they may be less reliable now.

Agreed. Some polls of course deserve to be mocked. But there are many polls out there that are very well done and do tell us something. I think of Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com. Studies ALL polls and comes to conclusions like that. And last I check, he's nailed every single election since he got his site up and running.
