So you do know that many people in public service have a pride of ownership...
I suppose comparisons between salaries in public and private sectors depend on skill level... Maybe government salaries flatten out more as you go up. As far as I understand in strictly utilitarian terms at a certain level the choice becomes public service with good job security and less pay vs. private sector with not-so-good job security and more pay.
I understand that's how Romney is generally viewed by his supporters but I do not agree with it. I see him as a salesman, not a statesman. I do not see him as a public servant, as somebody who wants to advance the public good, or as a man of honor. I do not trust him at all (personal impression, not because he has an R).
Reform, roll heads, etc.
I do not see Romney that way but I hope you are right.
Maybe the biggest issue in this election is the Supreme Court, and from that perspective getting a Democrat in there is very important if we ever want to do campaign finance reform or start getting rid of the corporate person-hood business.
I think putting the rich and the poor in the same sentence as "abusers of government" is a misrepresentation. Our government is set up to make the rich richer and keep the poor from rioting.
There are many things I disagree with Obama on, but I do not buy the narrative about Obama being the "government is the solution" type. It is a standard simplistic smear that does not work for me as a replacement for actual points.

Anyone else see the "Mitt saved my daughter" ad?![]()
That the one where Romney closed the company for a couple of days and sent everyone to NYC to search for an employee's daughter (turned out she was holed up at her boyfriend's house in Jersey)?
I applaud the guy for that. Not a reason to vote for him for President, but I do applaud him for it.
Since this is the Romney/Ryan thread, I'm going to make only one final comment on this. There is probably another thread to continue this in.
Risk lives is your criteria? Maybe we should mandate curfews to stop late night crimes. Maybe everyone should have to check in with the federal government via fingerprint everyday around 6pm. Obviously this is hyperbole on my part but the point is that the line between government overreach in the name of fighting terrorism isn't so clear. What fixes are you advocating that would protect liberties?
Oh, I've seen several "Look what a great guy he is" ads (mentioned in this thread.)
I remember one where he's being praised by some guy who owns a house on the same private lake where Romney owns a house, and he was bringing his boat up to the public dock at the clubhouse on the lake, and Romney helped him tie the boat to the dock.
(No, I'm not making that up. Somebody actually posted that, here.)

Romney's Last Path to 270 Electoral Votes
Romney officials tell National Review that the campaign "is focused on two key states as Election Day nears: Ohio and Pennsylvania. They believe that they are competitive in Ohio, but should it drift away, they're looking at Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes as a possible substitute for the Buckeye State."
Said a Romney adviser: "We have got to win one of those two states and do well everywhere else. We're still pushing in Ohio, but it's unpredictable. Pennsylvania, however, is really in play."
Romney's final-day schedule -- he will campaign in Pittsburgh and Cleveland.-- reflects his strategy.
lol. Who the hell told him that PA is in play? It won't even be close in PA.
OK? Romney was governor. Romney signed legislation. A company in Mass is linked to meningitis outbreak. Opinion piece is written in Salon, an admitted liberal progressive site, citing a lawyer that this ties to Mitt Romney. The agencies reported to Romney. Therefore, Mitt Romney is responsible.
That is so egregiously short on facts and logic, it is no different than Michelle Malkin running a piece saying the Attorney General and all of DoJ report to the President, therefore President Obama is personally responsible and should be charged with murder because a Border Patrol agent died in a DoJ operation.

I know. But not a single rebuke from the left for posting this? A FoxNews article gets hammered on here.

Haha, Romney in the MNF speech just said that he takes credit for the New England Patriots 2 Super Bowl wins![]()
Maybe he meant the losses because they won 3.
