Right and that's what this push is really about. It is about limiting the power of the federal government on federal land.
It is about diminishing the ability of many of the citizens of the US to know and have a say about what is going on in land that is owned by the US.
I'm not saying that the states shouldn't be consulted and shouldn't have an important say (and I'll say the samething about Utah and off shore drilling in places like FL), but to simply turn over the control of federal land to those states is dumb and about limiting the ability of people who have a different opinion about what should happen on federal land to influence the policy of what happens on federal land.
Even though we are all citizens of the US and represented by the federal government.
**EDIT**
The other issue is that I don't think this really opens up much land for drilling UNLESS you are going to tell the state of UT that they can manage the federal lands in their state.
But a state like FL has no say in what happens off their costal, even if they are most directly affected by drilling there.
There are a few places where doing what you want would matter, but much of the federal land that is being held in reserve is off shore places where the nearby states don't want drilling.

DC Sports: The Curse Is Real
You can't be surprised. Mitt Romney will say absolutely anything to win. He doesn't care about this country, he cares about Mitt Romney. There are so many Republicans that genuinely care about this country that it amazes me that couldn't have nominated someone else.
This guy is the gift that keeps on giving.
Romney then added that the reason that big businesses are "doing fine in many places" is because they are able to invest their money in "tax havens."
"They know how to find ways to get through the tax code, save money by putting various things in the places where there are low tax havens around the world for their businesses," said Romney. "But small business is getting crushed."

I think you are thinking of Chester A. Arthur, the 21st President of the United States who is rumored to have been born in Canada.
Martin Van Buren our 10th President, was born in the US, was actually the first President born a citizen of the United States.

Who is whiter than Tony Blair? Not born in the United States.

Very disappointing. People still believe that ****, it is irresponsible for someone seeking the presidency to fuel their idiocy. I felt he came off as a total douche when he was interviewed by CBS about it. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems like terrible politics to me. The only people who will find it endearing would crawl over broken glass to vote for him anyhow.
