Pulling out respondents in these eight states — all of which Obama won in 2008 — from the new national poll, shows Obama at 52 percent and Romney at 41 among likely voters. We report these numbers to help connect the dots between the clear Obama leads in the collection of states and the continued closer parity nationally, not to suggest pinpoint precision on what’s happening now in any particular state.
Out of 929 registered voters in the new poll, 161 live in one of these eight states, with a margin of sampling error of eight points. The likely voter sample in these states is about nine points, making the 11-point gap an apparent edge.

hard to believe they would publish a projection from a subsample that small.

I'd agree averaging would be best, but the polls are conducted quite differently from each other...perhaps if you categorised them by model.
Averaging likely voter polls with registered voter polls(or heaven forbid, voting age models) is going to be of little use

Yahoo: Analysis: Romney would send consumers healthcare bill, with benefits

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has a prescription for controlling soaring costs within the $2.8 trillion U.S. healthcare system, partly by making consumers pay more of their own medical bills.

Romney's vow to repeal and replace President Barack Obama's healthcare overhaul has played prominently in the campaign, even as Romney has offered few details about his alternative.

But as he prepares to face Obama in their first presidential debate on Wednesday, Romney is giving a few hints. The former Massachusetts governor's advisers say he would accelerate the use of high-deductible insurance plans that offer lower premiums but require beneficiaries to pay thousands of dollars more in out-of-pocket expenses than they would face under conventional coverage.
Lots more at link. (Although not necessarily a lot more details. Just lots more of both sides announcing their talking points.)

Still, it's a lot more issue-oriented than anything that's actually getting talked about, lately.

Is it just me, or wouldn't that be great for the big insurance companies and terrible for low income people?

But hey, Mitt's job isn't to worry about the 47% of people who make up the moocher class of society.

The complaint about medical costs from the Right was that Obamacare didn't address the medical costs...and now Mitt's plan is "we're just going to have you pay more"! Seriously, how in the heck can you vote for this tool?! Oh I know, he's better than Obama....yeah the guy is an empty suit, but hey he's your empty suit. The guy is for sale to the highest bidder, you just better hope you're the highest bidder.

Au contraire, my friend. Mitt's Moochers, as I now think of 47% of Americans, refers to federal income taxes only. The majority of those people pay state/local/sales/payroll taxes, rent, food, and, yes, even health insurance. Since they mooch at the federal income tax level, might as well stick'em whereever you can.
