Thread: Will Frank Gore run for more the 150 yards?

  1. #1

Default Will Frank Gore run for more the 150 yards?

Frank Gore is in BEAST mode at the moment. The 49ers offense totally runs through him right now.

He is averaging 131 yards per game in his last 4 games, and a TD per game on top of that.

Even with defenses putting 8 in the box.

Sando notes that Frank Gore ranks second in the league in facing eight-man fronts. That’s a sign that opponents still don’t respect San Francisco’s passing game much.
Gore is allowing A.Smith to manage the game, and he's doing a fine job of that. He has been so productive that the 49ers can now throw the ball to who ever they feel like. Ask Joe Staley and Isaac Sapoaga what it's like to be inseted into the game plan. When 2, 300+ pounders are catching the ball in the same game, it must be fun for the offense.

ES has such mixed feelings about this team and the result of the upcoming game. But it is obvious we are struggling against the run right now, and Gore is making the 49ers offense effective.

So, you have faith we come to play with a game plan and execute, or is it another long day this coming Sunday?

Thanks to Soup for the sig!

This is a good thread to discuss the Skins D and why we've continued having no success in stopping the run.

The reason it's relevant is that there has been a lot of discussion about how we've improved the front 7 on D through the draft and FA. However, our problems vs. the run are the same or similar as they were last year. We suck.

    Why is this?
    No true NT?
    Bad ILBs?
    Bad scheme?
    All of the above?

It's pretty easy, aside of the running quarterbacks, almost EVERY big run has gone between Brian Orakpo and Stephen Bowen. Brian Orakpo is so far up the field on his pass rushing that he loses contain on the run. Fix that and you might have a rush defense worth talking about.

I think it has alot to do with the NT. I don't have much of an issue with the scheme other than, I think Haslett has become a little gun-shy with lack of pressure the past 2-3 games. But overall, Cofield has been getting man-handled, which opens up the middle of the line. I think the only way for us to stop Gore on sunday is to blitz up the middle. At this point we can't rely on Cofield to hold the fort.

I think Gore will have a good day, maybe 125 yards or so.

His backup will get the 150 you're talking about.

Alex Smith is only averaging 181 yards and a touchdown, so I'm thinking he's due for a 350 yard, 4 TD game against us.

I am with you, I have no idea why everyone is jocking Cofield and throwing Carriker and Bowen under the bus.

Add NT to the list of needs this offseason (QB, OL, ILB).

If the defense can contain Gore and that's a BIG IFand we force Smith to beat us with his arm awe who am I kidding this guys averaging what 180 so yards a game he'll put up 350 with a quarterback rating of 100 plus.
