Yeah I had a post like this written up for this thread 2 days ago and got busy so didn't get a chance to finish and submit it.
McQueary was given a promotion from "graduate assistant" to "admin assistant" in 2003 (year immediately following alleged activity, probably months later), and then the very next year (2004) he was promoted to WR coach/recruiting coordinator. source:

The timing is suspect and worthy of some investigation at least. I'm glad he appears to be telling the truth now. It's hard to say, but we still don't know all of the details, what was said by whom and to whom, etc. The thing is, in the grand jury testimony he seems to say he witnessed this act in no uncertain terms. If that's the case, waiting this long is inexcusable, especially when it seems he was given "more to lose" in the process (at the least). How many kids could have been saved otherwise.
Hats off to PSU for firing Paterno. That took guts. I honestly didn't expect it, but I really respect them for the action.
*By the way, I hope any PSU alums who were bothered by jokes and comments about the situation were equally bothered by jokes and comments about Catholic priests in the past. Otherwise.... it seems a bit hypocritical, and you should probably realize that.
