Mark Madden is the sleaziest talk show host in America. Imagine if Steve Czaban was a bitter fat alcoholic who literally lived with his mother until he was 50 and who tried to live his life as if he was a professional wrestler. Mark Madden should be running an outlaw pro wrestling circuit in Kentucky in 1976, not pontificating about anything.

Good to know, I guess. Between that and the SportsByBrooks comments last night on Twitter I thought it might have legs.

Nothing would surprise me at this point . . . and considering Madden wrote an article on the grand jury stuff 7 months ago I thought he might have some good sources.

You may be right, I don't know, but after reading this from April of this year, he asks a lot of questions that we're all asking now.

LOL, LBK.... I have had my issues with this dude in the past, namely with Steelers related stuff... but let's be real here, this guy was first to the story and everything has played out like he's said so far.

He has two media sources that are investigating, Mike Wise just said that they were Wetzel and Wojo from yahoo sports. I think we'll know soon enough.

I only support what he (Madden) is saying because it's the logical (reflexive) scenario that I came up with. Hopefully that doesn't put me in a bad light with you ; )

Oh, he is actively a dick.

I know people that know him. (Again, the world revolves around me). He is actually a pretty bright guy and can be a decent newspaper columnist. But he is obsessed with pro wrestling and at some point decided that he would be a "heel" sports radio host. And it's actually been a pretty successful schtick. When I was in law school in Pittsburgh, his thing was hating Jerome Bettis. That was his entire show at times. The only reason he did it was to piss people off. From what I've heard, his new thing is attacking Sydney Crosby. He got fired a few years ago when - after Teddy Kennedy died - he went on the air and said it was sad that Ted Kennedy was never assassinated like his brothers were.

He doesn't believe any of this ****; he just says it for "ratings."

McQueary was given a promotion from "graduate assistant" to "admin assistant" in 2003 (year immediately following alleged activity, probably months later), and then the very next year (2004) he was promoted to WR coach/recruiting coordinator. source: http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-...ry_mike00.html

The timing is suspect and worthy of some investigation at least. I'm glad he appears to be telling the truth now. It's hard to say, but we still don't know all of the details, what was said by whom and to whom, etc. The thing is, in the grand jury testimony he seems to say he witnessed this act in no uncertain terms. If that's the case, waiting this long is inexcusable, especially when it seems he was given "more to lose" in the process (at the least). How many kids could have been saved otherwise.

Hats off to PSU for firing Paterno. That took guts. I honestly didn't expect it, but I really respect them for the action.
Good points. It's also uncommon for a guy to GA and Coach in the same spot back to back like that.

They had to be. They knew and said they didn't find enough evidence to move forward.

How does PSU focus on football. I mean I know players and coaches are trained for every situation but how can announcers, coaches, players, and fans focus on Nebraska this Saturday?

So he is the Chad Dukes of Pittsburgh? Hmm.... well, I hate to give a guy like that credit, but check the dates on his submission. April comes before October/November on every calander.

McQuery didn't take action, he called his dad who told him to walk away leaving a 10 year old boy to continue to be raped. He turned a blind eye on a horrific crime while it was in progress, i don't care if he had dreams of becoming President, he should have actually taken action by stopping Sandusky right then and there, possibly killing or at least maiming him on the spot. As for 1999, the district attorney dismissed the investigation, not Joe Paterno. From what LKB has said, JoePa couldnt stand Sandusky, why would he cover up for him?

*By the way, I hope any PSU alums who were bothered by jokes and comments about the situation were equally bothered by jokes and comments about Catholic priests in the past. Otherwise.... it seems a bit hypocritical, and you should probably realize that.
I'm pretty sure that's a natural progression for someone like McQueary. He was a grad assistant for 2 years and if he finished his grad program, and they wanted to keep him on staff then an admin assistant position would make sense.

As an aside, you know the people at the University of Miami are quietly exhaling a sigh of relief as the spotlight shifts away from them.

I do however believe that Sandusky robbed those students of their innocence.

And I want to make it clear that I'm not defending or excusing ANYONE involved in this scandal.

McQueary was relatively close to winning a national championship with PSU, i.e. he was the QB of a team that was a legit title contender. He wasn't a slouch. So he wasn't some 3rd stringer who knew nothing that suddenly was promoted up the chain.

Not necessarily true. I was just telling a story about a month ago about him, how I was sitting behind him in the press box at Heinz Field and he was saying some pretty inappropriate things and just generally being an ass. I know a lot of people that fit the radio heel profile to get ratings and I absolutely believe that he tries to play that role, but he was also pretty annoying when the mic was not on and he was relatively in private and not trying to get listeners fired up.

However, I think he is pretty credible and the fact that he was really the first one to bring this into the public eye leads me to trust what he is saying in this situation more than I normally would.
