I imagine the discussion went something like "for the good of the program and for the university".

In the grand scheme of things... What happened at Miami (and Ohio State, and USC) pales in comparison to this whole thing. This SHOULD take the spotlight away from, well, pretty much everything. This is bad.

As someone mentioned earlier though, very rarely does someone go from GA to a staff position at the same school.

But it was the district attorney that dismissed the investigation, NOT Joe Paterno.

As for 1999, the district attorney dismissed the investigation, not Joe Paterno. From what LKB has said, JoePa couldnt stand Sandusky, why would he cover up for him?
Why would Joe Pa cover up Sandusky? That has to be asked? Joe Pa at best was looking out for the image of his Penn State. At Best.

But Joe Paterno controls everything. He told the DA to dismiss then several years later told him to go off himself. That's how powerful Joe is in Central, PA. The mountains surrounding the campus, actually act like a satellite dish that focuses his power.

It's not even comparable. Those schools violated ameture status'. This school covered up a child molesting ring.

And I want to make it clear that I'm not defending or excusing ANYONE involved in this scandal.
    How's Penn State's teacher program?

Yeah, and Joe Pa carries no influence over the area, sorry but it is entirely reasonable to ask the question of why the DA dismissed the investigation, and whether or not it was due to influence from the University and or the football program. Look, if it is appropriate to ask whether the police were involved then it at least IMO is not inappropriate to wonder how high up this went, again, this would explain why the Feds are involved here too.

I'm not trying to argue, but this sounds like speculation.

Prove to me that Paterno asked the DA to stop the investigation then off himself?

IIRC, the Grand Jury report says that the head of the campus police told the AG to close the report (i.e., "nothing to see here").

Penn State runs things in that region - it's entirely reasonable to question who was pulling the strings on some of this stuff.

Talking about females being in the "donor circle" I made an untimely joke about the female teachers that have recently been getting it on with their students.

It's all speculation, but sometimes the cookie crumbs are laid out in a way where the answers are pretty obvious.

It seems that each time i log on, there are additional details that hurt more than the last. For people that are having a hard time believing all of this, and i am one of them... I have read this quote time and time again over the course of my life and yet i dont think that it has ever been more true than in this case:

" Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

    ~ Arthur Conan Doyle

We'll grind that axe, for a long time!

I was unaware of that scandal.

and speaking of untimely jokes... it sounds like this school is out of control... and in need of Mr. Joe Clark.
