Default MSNBC - Lobbying firm's memo spells out plan to undermine Occupy Wall Street

    http://openchannel.msnbc.msn.com/_ne...py-wall-street

CLGC’s memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct “opposition research” on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct “negative narratives” about the protests and allied politicians. The memo also asserts that Democratic victories in 2012 would be detrimental for Wall Street and targets specific races in which it says Wall Street would benefit by electing Republicans instead.
While this was supposedly an unsolicited proposal that was apparently not acted on, I fully expect some on the right to use the memo as a loose guide for how to deal with OWS..

The memo indicates that CLGC would research who has contributed financial backing to OWS, noting that, “Media reports have speculated about associations with George Soros and others.”

"It will be vital,” the memo says, “to understand who is funding it and what their backgrounds and motives are. If we can show that they have the same cynical motivation as a political opponent it will undermine their credibility in a profound way.”
What, you mean like the billionaire Koch Brothers who are funding the tea party?

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-1...an-sales.html#

A Bloomberg Markets investigation has found that Koch Industries -- in addition to being involved in improper payments to win business in Africa, India and the Middle East -- has sold millions of dollars of petrochemical equipment to Iran, a country the U.S. identifies as a sponsor of global terrorism.
    The ‘Koch Method’

Internal company documents show that the company made those sales through foreign subsidiaries, thwarting a U.S. trade ban. Koch Industries units have also rigged prices with competitors, lied to regulators and repeatedly run afoul of environmental regulations, resulting in five criminal convictions since 1999 in the U.S. and Canada.

From 1999 through 2003, Koch Industries was assessed more than $400 million in fines, penalties and judgments. In December 1999, a civil jury found that Koch Industries had taken oil it didn’t pay for from federal land by mismeasuring the amount of crude it was extracting. Koch paid a $25 million settlement to the U.S.

Phil Dubose, a Koch employee who testified against the company said he and his colleagues were shown by their managers how to steal and cheat -- using techniques they called the Koch Method.

    Democracy is complicated.
"Captain, it's a viewpoint--not one of ours! We're under attack!"

"I see it, ensign! Engage amygdala! Transfer all power from frontal lobes!

Suspend critical thinking field! Go to course heading of reflexive response 101 at full bias!
    Now!'Enter' at will!"

"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."

    Politicians and lobbyists are disgusting.
It's funny because if people did this in their private lives they would be hated and despised by their neighbors and everyone else, but since it's politics then it is accepted.

Do regular folks really care about George Soros? Or even know who he is?

I doubt it but they should, his Quantum fund caused an entire currency to collapse.

Uh, just pointing out, that claim sounds like something from a James Bond movie.

Does he own a white Persian cat?

I think it's more accurate to say that an untenable valuation of the GBP followed by a series of pig-headed decisions taken by the British Chancellor and senior officers of the Bank of England, allowed currency speculators to make a huge financial profit. Soros being the leader of that charge.

his speculation alone was enough to cause the currency to become drastically unstable and to set the collapse into an unstoppable avalanche. for that he is still considered the primary cause of it.

their are most certainly other outside factors that helped cause the collapse but sorts was the main singular entity that drive the train.

Seriously, now Soros was the primary cause of the market collapse? Man ya'll are looking for a demon to blame for everything, I guess he invented AIDS too, and cancer...and he was probably behind 9/11.

Perhaps their stooping to dirty tricks is an admission on their part that they don't have much ground to justifiably defend Wall Street.

Well, he is considered the primary cause of the British Pound sterling collapse in 1992. And he did work for the Nazis, helping them deport Jews in Germany...I'd say he's pretty close to demon status.
"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."-RIP to the best safety the world has ever seen.
