VPI is being rewarded for playing in a weak conference, and scheduling this out of conference schedule: Appalachian State, East Carolina, Arkansas State and Marshall.

I have nothing against the Hokies - a ton of my friends went there and I root for them as a matter of course, but get real. There is a reason that everyone in the US (at least everyone outside the VPI community) was surprised by Tech getting in over K-State, and it's not because ESPN pushed Michigan.
ND lost the first game of their season to USF so they were never in the Top 10. It doesn't matter though. Michigan & VT are great selections...both double digit winners and better attendance & TV draws than Boise, Baylor or KSU.

Key things for the Orange Bowl

    1) Get a vacation rental

    2) Buy tickets at the stadium

    3) Arrange transportation EARLY to get from South Beach to Pro Player stadium. It is a mess, and Wednesday southern Florida traffic will be awful

Oops, you are right. My bad. Nevertheless, I'll stick with my main point - VPI didn't play anyone at all this year out of conference, and their conference was weak.

Like I said, I'm happy for the Hokies. Just think it is lame to try to deflect the controversy by saying that Michigan is the real team that didn't earn the invite.

The Biggest Travesty of the Bowl Season: http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/dail...ty-bowl-season

So what's the greatest injustice of bowl selection process this year? Oklahoma State getting locked out of a title shot? Nick Saban voting the Pokes lower than third in the polls? Boise State losing three games in four years and getting only a single BCS bid?

    Nope. None of the above.

The most regrettable event of the bowl season happened in Bowling Green, Ky.

The Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky gathered Sunday night to celebrate their 7-5 season at an awards banquet. It started at 6 p.m. -- right around the time the team hoped to get good news about a bowl berth.

It was a storybook year for WKU: The Hilltoppers were 0-12 two seasons ago, then 2-10 last year, and now bowl eligible -- plus one win for good measure. They traveled to LSU and went to halftime down only 14-7 to the No. 1 team in the nation before getting blown out in the second half. WKU still won seven out of its last eight. Not bad for the newest FBS team in the country.

WKU brass started working the phones as soon as the team won its sixth game, aware how big a bowl game would be for a senior-laden team that needs all the exposure it can get for recruiting. Senior associate athletic director Todd Stewart says the school put together a marketing plan to send to 11 bowls. The program got great feedback, and hopes ramped up. This was one of the best stories of a depressing college football season.

SHF, how are you planning on getting Sugar Bowl tickets?

Not sure how concerned I should be about getting them.

    A few options

    1) They come out on ticketmaster every now and then. Keep checking

    2) Hoping to find a Golden Hokie on TSL who can't go and will be willing to buy for me

    3) Check stubhub (way overpriced)

    4) Scalp them down there

I may be able to get some from people that I know that are still in school, but I know from going to the Orange Bowl that Tech usually overprices them...just not sure if they're overpriced compared to what scalping/ticketmaster would be.

You are comparing Oranges and Sugar

Orange Bowl demand was always soft, buying from the school was a terrible deal.

In this case, the pregame market is very hot right now. If you can get from VTTO I would do it. If not, I wouldn't buy a ticket till we get as close to gametime as possible
