His reasoning? "Barkley is better and you keep your draft picks".

I've told him repeatedly that the Redskins can't afford to suck for another year, that RGIII is one of the best prospects of the last decade, etc, but he just won't listen.

Has anyone got any links/scouting reports i can shove in his face to show him that Matt Barkley was NOT considered a better prospect than RGIII?

    Thanks folks.

The difference between winning and losing in the NFL is so small. As bad a the Redskins were last year, we were less than 9 plays separate us from a 10 win season and a 2 win season. You cannot guarantee that tanking will do you any good unless you've got such a bad team that a couple of first rounders won't make a difference so you don't have to share your plan. If you got talent willing to tank, they suck anyway.
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.

We are in good hands with Allen. I have faith that they will seriously address the O-Line during FA and in April. This cap space fiasco has me worried though.

I'm even more happy with the decision to get RG3 after listening to how Seattle/Miami/Titans/Cleveland are all scrambling to figure out their QB plans this year in FA..

Three things I think I think:

-Flynn is going to get paid way more then he is worth.
-Someone is going to reach hard for Tannehill
-Someone is going to be left out in the cold with no fix at their QB situation.

I heard yesterday on The Fan that RGIII and his friends went out and celebrated once the Redskins made the move to #2. Anyone else hear this? If so is there an article about it?

I just wanted to come in here and bask in the sun of RGIII glory for a few minutes and chill out before I have to go back into the ugly dungeon of NFL collusion cap hell.

ahh... RGIII.. no matter what, we'll be watching him throw the ball next season.

    o.k... i'm better now.

I wonder what number he'll end up with...because when I find out, the jersey will be ordered.

Didn't see this posted anywhere else after searching through countless threads that pertain to RGIII so if it has already been posted, please disregard.

Like many here, I have found myself anticipating some kind of reaction from RGIII regarding the Skins trade.

After searching through numerous interwebs I found the link below on baylorfans.com under the thread title "Smoaky's Podcast with RG3 after workout in Phoenix"

Have a listen to your very own future franchise QB discuss his upcoming pro day and the Skins move up to 2.

    http://www.1660espn.com/includes/new...kout031312.mp3

I'm not familiar with Ole' Smoaky myself, but apparently he covers Texas Football, according to his website http://www.smoaky.com/, and he appears to be on ESPN 1660 AM based out of Waco Texas.

Anyway, this seems to be the only audio I can find regarding Griffin's take on the trade, which can be found at approximately the 3:15 mark.

Even though I've been following this guy pretty closely since the early part of the Skins 2011 season, I'm still blown away by his selflessness and maturity when he speaks. Although he refuses to acknowledge he's a lock for the #2 pick, I think the kid is dying to work with MS and Kyle and can't wait to put on that Burgundy & Gold, at least I know I can't wait :

Maybe you haven't tried tackling Robert Griffin III, but if you've ever chased an important piece of paper on a windy day, you know the feeling.

No problem NattyBo, BTW, didn't you start the Godawful for Griffin thread? Not to pick at any open wounds with regard to that whole debate (I know the Mods have made it abundantly clear not to go down that road), but I picked up a lot of good info in that thread, espcially where to stream Baylor games, so thank you too!

    Very nice find.

Most important part, for the irrationally nervous:

Interviewer, in response to RG3's comment that he doesn't know who's going to take him, but he's excited to play in the NFL: "And no matter who it is, you're going to whoever drafts you, right?"

RG3 "I think that's the case. I'm not gonna pull the 'I don't want to play here' card. That's just not in my nature. Not who I am."
"[RG3] is the best throwing athlete I've seen come out in a while. Far better than Michael Vick, in my opinion. Far better than Cam Newton."

Awesome clip. He's going to be such a perfect fit here. So professional too. Perfect face of the franchise!

As much as people think we overpaid, people do have to admit that having certainty that we're getting a young elite prospect is much much better than the alternative.

Just imagine how sad/angry the board would be if the Browns had traded up instead of us, AND we got hit with the cap penalty. The fatalism would be too thick to cut with a knife.

I was just thinking this, I might have given up on football altogether...
