Man giving up Rakpo is absurd. Id give up that #1 next year in a heartbeat before I give up Orakpo. Keep in mind, if we have a good season this year that #1 will likely be a late round pick.

Shanny has already came out and said you NEED pass rushers, LT and QB to win a Super Bowl. No way they're giving up Orakpo.

Much rather trade next year's 1st than Orakpo. He is already a proven player that still hasn't peaked. He will get better once our defense can start attacking and stop playing from behind every game. I wouldn't mind trading Landry, but Orakpo is one of the few players we can't afford to lose.

I love Rak. He's one of my favorite players. That said, I think he's probably our most valuable bargaining chip. Yes, there's no way to know what the future picks will yield. But I'm not sure we couldn't get the same production from Rak's position with a guy like White or Rob Jackson. Orakpo's sack number wasn't great last year, but he did a great job of generating pressure and allowing other guys to make plays. I think we could get that pressure from other players currently on the roster.

I don't want him gone. Again, he's one of my favorite players. But he is a blue chip trade asset. I think his value to other teams, namely the Rams, may be higher than it is here.

Dont forget about those holding calls to go along with his pressure.

So your saying If we have a decent season this year youd rather give up Rakpo then to give up a #20 draft pick?

This is a great point that I think a lot of people aren't catching. When you have a good offense, the other team tends to have to pass more to keep up.

I'd like to see if anyone has broken down the number of sacks per opponent's passing attempt (while player is on the field, of course). I'd think Orakpo's numbers along that vein would favor him a little bit more than his raw sack numbers. I could be wrong, though.

Yeah I don't understand why people undervalue Orakpo so much... Having two elite edge rushers is th reason we were top 10 in sacks this year. They free up others and require teams to gameplay around them. And I would trade my 1st next year to RG3, If you truly belive a guy is a franchise qb... Then u do what it takes to get him

I'd love to have a year where we're good enough to have the #20 pick. But I think Orakpo's value would make it easier for us to move up in the draft. Right now, I think that's a better option to ensure we get a quarterback. Pass rushers are not hard to find. Elite ones, sure. Orakpo hasn't proven he's elite in our system yet.

If we don't move up to #2, we won't be drafting at #20 so it won't matter. Comparing Rak's value to the future pick is hard to do because we don't know where it will be. But really, it's a coin toss. I'd give up the future first in a second. I'd also send Rak to St. Louis without much hesitation. In the bigger picture, having a franchise guy at QB is worth some sacrifices.

    That's just my opinion though.

I'm not undervaluing him at all. I think he's a good player and may develop into a better rusher than we saw last year. As I said, he's one of my favorite players. I just think his value to other teams may be even higher. I think as a bargaining chip, he's our best one. Moving up to get a franchise QB, you put all your chips on the table and hope we outbid Cleveland.[COLOR="Gold"]

Rak is worth more than next years 1st round pick. I don't have a problem with parting ways with Landry but I would not include one of the few pro bowlers we have.

Yes he isnt yet but he's about as close as it gets. Lets not pretend like this isnt just the 2nd year in that system. Kerrigan benefited from playing on the opposite side. We lose Orakpo, we lose that as well.

Shanahans words once again. Pass Rushers, LT, QB= Super Bowl

And that might be why the Rams want Orakpo instead.

Eh.. I think Kerrigan benefited from a great year by Carriker lining up next to him. Don't get me wrong here, I don't want Orakpo going anywhere. But if the Rams want him in the discussion, he should be in the discussion.

Rak and Kerrigan playing as bookends together will only get better and could down right be nasty for other teams. You don't give that away. There are other things of value that could be put on the table, but Rak should not be a bargaining chip.

4-12, 6-10, 5-11 .... Yah, if you think anyone on this team is too valuable to trade you are a jock sniffing homer. Nothing more

The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."
