Respectfully, this has nothing to do with hope. This is simple math. If 2 of these 3 teams (Washington, Miami, & Cleveland) sign FA QBs, the price for the #2 pick will go down. Seattle being interested is not equal to the other two teams dropping out.

You equation is missing the fact that while yes there are 2 FA QBs, there are more than 3 teams looking to sign those 2 QBs. It's more like 6.

So yes, again, there is a specific combination of events that could maybe possibly drive his price down, there are several others that will not drive his price down, and in fact could drive his price up.

Why is it assumed that we are the only team willing to give up the farm from RGIII? Do we know something other teams don't?

Also, do people not understand how easy it is for the Rams to drum up interest by being allowed to shop every offer they get in?

I suppose. I didn't consider the Seahawks as likely trade partners given where they're drafting and the fact that they are division rivals. But, I suppose it's possible.

Tris, the part I don't think you get is that STL will not trade out of the top 10. MAYBE 12, but highly doubtful. I honestly think they want to stay in the top 6 to 8.

That truly does leave Cleveland, Us, Miami, and Seattle as the possible trade partners. Seattle is a long shot AT BEST because of where they pick. So it comes down to 3 teams. If FA pans out as I hope, Flynn goes to Cleveland. PM goes to Miami.

That leaves us and MAYBE Seattle. That drives the price down for us. STL is in a little different situation because in FA, you never see two QBs like PM and Flynn as FAs. Almost always are QBs only available via trade.

Edit....I keep forgetting, as war paint pointed out, why would STL trade RG3 in there own division?

I'm sure other teams have interest in RGIII, but I don't see Seattle being a team that can make some noise in the sweepstakes. Why would the Rams give a potential franchise QB stud to their division rivals? Seattle doesn't even have a top 10 pick.

I agree. I don't think nobody will be able to match us. The team that wants RGIII the most will get him. I think that team is the Redskins. The Dolphins are a wild card, but I don't think they will outbid us. We currently have one of the worst QB situations in the league. I think we will get it done.

So why do you think Dave Ross only mentioned Washington?...My assumption was that during that specific talk with Dave, RG3 gave off a vibe about playing for the Skins/Shanahan that stood out in Ross' eyes.

This might be the one situation for which RG3's class and character will HURT us. I can't see him doing something like that and trying to dictate where he goes.

IIRC Elway was his role model growing up, which I imagine could lead to him favoring working with MS. Makes sense. But as others have said, this guy is a class act, he's not pulling an Eli, he will go to where he's drafted.
