"The Internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea: massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it" - I wish I had said this.
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."
Erm... that's how a press release works. Countless publications run press releases as "stories" all the time. Hell, a person who works about six feet away from me wrote a press release for my company earlier this week that was run as a "story" by a few websites/papers. Campaign law just requires that last line to be included, apparently.

Army Reserve Reprimands Soldier Who Backed Ron Paul
IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - A soldier who went on national television in his military fatigues to endorse Texan Ron Paul’s presidential campaign has been reprimanded but not dismissed from the Army Reserve, a spokeswoman said Friday.

I don't think many people are all that surprised.
I've seen lots of posts (don't know if they're about this particular guy or not) along the lines of "he's gonna be in trouble, for doing that in uniform".
I think it won't get to that point. The establishment will make sure that Mitt clinches the nomination on the first ballot.
If Ron Paul wants to be nothing more than a political footnote; then he should begin making plans to run on the American Elect ticket. He would easily win that online nomination and with the ballot access in all 50 states; he could do some real damage to Romney. No, he wouldn't beat Obama but he could finish second.
I think that's the only possible conclusion to his campaign.

So, your point is "Lots of delegates that have been selected, claiming to be uncommitted, are really die hard Ron Paul supporters who concealed this fact until after they got the job, so that they can then vote, at the actual convention, in other ways that what they said, when they were appointed! Go Ron Paul!"
Have I got that correct?
almost, they didnt 'conceal the fact", they had full disclosure with the santorum delegates they teamed up with over whom they will likely support. It's more a strategy within the rules than anything untoward.
from the link:
"King said that the Paul delegates ran unpledged in order to win the votes of Santorum supporters who understand that the delegates will vote for Paul at the RNC, but would not be legally bound to do so. If anything changes with the Paul or Santorum campaigns between now and August, both camps would have an opportunity to persuade unpledged delegates to change their minds."
Plain and simple, the delegates who knew the CO game better were able to succeed and surprise the establishment gop there a bit.
