It's been ten years since the Patriots beat the Raiders in Foxborough. Since then, the Patriots are 137-42, the Raiders 56-104 and have had 6 head coaches.

I think Bob Kraft pulls the strings for the league. Just look at what his team gets away with.
I STILL can't figure out when the Tuck Rule applies and when it doesn't. And I don't know why it's just not ALWAYS ruled a fumble.
Remember at the Broncos a couple years ago? Should have had a safety, but no, the tuck rule rears its head again.
A young spring-tender girl
combed her joyous hair
'You are very ugly' said the mirror.
But,
on her lips hung
a smile of dove-secret loveliness,
for only that morning had not
the blind boy said,
'You are beautiful'?
I think the Tuck Rule should be considered Intentional Grounding, but that's just me.
"The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good is not sufficient warrant." --John Stuart Mill
"The rule of law is to be preferred to the rule of man. We do not permit a man to rule but the law because a man rules in his own interest, and becomes a tyrant but the function of a rule is to be the guardian of the justice and, if justice then of equality." --Aristotle
Yeah, it's another example of needless complication of the rules. If the hand's going forward, then it's an attempted pass. Otherwise, fumble.
The "tuck rule" needs to be thrown on the same scrap heap, that the old "QB in the grasp" rule is in. End of story.

Add me to the group that doesn't understand why the tuck rule is a rule.

The tackling by the knees thing is quite literally a 'brady rule' that was implemented after his injury. Jason Campbell had his kneecap dislocated in similar fashion the year before and no big deal.

Damn the rules, I still say it was a fumble.

NFL Rule 3, Section 22, Article 2, Note 2. When [an offensive] player is holding the ball to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pass, even if the player loses possession of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back toward his body. Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble.
