if Obama didnt bend over backwards to reach across the aisle his first two years, he would have accomplished a lot more his first term.
Its a nonsense and desperation statement to say that he hadnt.

Complete nonsense when your party holds 59 seats in the Senate and an overwhelming majority in the House.
The President failed to lead in years 1 and 2 and gave us a stimulus which didn't build anything and a frankenstein health care bill which is the biggest give away to insurance companies ever.
All this while having overwhelming majorities.
The hotter the heat, the harder the steel, no pressure no diamonds, we compete, we win
We are the next decade of the Washington Redskins
I guarantee they considered the imagery in moving the speech. The Obama campaign believes they would have filled the stadium on a normal day -- they're not just saying that. However, what I don't think they have said is that they were worried about filling the stadium in a potential downpour. With those attending having to stand a line for a good while before the speech starts, common sense says a good number of them don't want to watch the speech in a downpour. So they leave, and you have a stadium only 2/3 full.
On top of that, the visuals of people in ponchos, getting rained on -- it's a downbeat visual for viewers to see. There is a reason why baseball games played in on-and-off rain showers feel like they're being played in front of nobody. It often takes the energy out of a place.
The Dems had a filibuster proof majority for 134 days by my recollection, from the point Kirk was installed until the swearing in of Scott Brown.

I think Frankin became official in 2009 so that didnt have too much impact.
Conservatives cant trust Republicans
The Democrats DID have a majority. and made the mistake of trying to include the minority in the process, and got their hand bitten every time they did.
Honestly, blaming him for the right's refusal to cooperate with anything is the exact sort of warped reality the right expects their followers to believe.(and they happily do.)
it wasn't THAT long ago, it's not like it's hard to recall exactly what happened, and you'd have to be one dyed in the wool shill to believe it did happen because Obama 'failed to lead'.
he failed to be pushy, and he failed to "ram things down people's throats" like the right cried every time they tried to do something.
It seems to me that this complaint means the right would have preferred and respected a man who told them to shut the **** up and sit in the ****ing corner.
In hindsight that is exactly what he should have done.
and I'm sure no one would be crying about that.
sorry, modern republican. Your horse**** revisions of very recent history only fly with the brain dead who just don't care how much bull**** you sling.
Nowadays the right screams "you had a majority", and while they had the majority that America voted for, all the right did was scream that the 'majority' of Americans didnt want whatever they said.
Lies and distortions. Par for the course.
Wake up, righty. Thse jackoffs are just using you. The bull**** twists to fit any contingency.. and y'all never seem to figure it out.

Go on, Bang! Great post!
+2! Agreed, great post.
Wow! For such a long speech, that's very few quibbles... and all of the fact checkers complaints really are quibbles with acknowledgement that what Clinton said was true.

The fact checkers are all mad because Romney hasn't specified anything so they're like "you can't fill in the gaps".

A stimulus that didn't build anything but over 150,000 jobs. You don't seem to notice that the pivital stop in job losses occurred just at the same time that the stimulus took effect. Are you saying that's just a coincidence?

You know, truth has a liberal bias.
One of the things that really stood out to me last night is how smartly and tangibly the Dems are trying to link Obama and Clinton. It really provided a more coherent sense of direction and philosophy for the party. Compared to the R's, who barely mentioned Bush at all, and certainly didn't let him anywhere near a microphone. They are running away from their own history, pretending 2000-2008 never happened. All the republicans seem to have is anger, resentment, and mistrust of the government and american people.
Only three? I'm countnig Patrick, Castro, M. Obama, and Clinton as great ones. Who are you leaving off?

I think its too early and too close to tell. Romney has been prone to eff ups of both large and small scale (so has Biden though). The question is when will his next mess up be and how big will it be. I think that will help add some clarity to this race.
