All this while having overwhelming majorities.
That "frankenstein" health care bill allows someone like me to have insurance if I lost my job.

I found it nearly impossible to find insurance that would accept my preexisting condition when I was out of a work about 5 years ago - so I welcome anything that would save me from the stress of being uninsured again.

It's definitely not perfect, but it's certainly a start and I guess I shouldn't expect someone that hasn't had that kind of issue to appreciate what the new health care bill allows.

I was just about to say that. Fact checkers are mostly just nitpicking at Clinton. Contrast that with the free-for-all in Paul Ryan's speech last week.

That IS impressive, but really curious how it breaks down if you shift the data collection segments one year later (to account for the "take credit" issue). But it was Bill F. Clinton. You don't fact check him, he's like the Chuck Norris of speeches, history books alter themselves in real time to make this guy's speeches ring true. He's THAT good.

To me, that's been the biggest contrast between both conventions.

From what I understand, it's mostly because Dalton is too closely connected with Easley and Perdue.

Don't be surprised if we see Republican majorities in both houses of the General Assembly led by a Republican governor come November. It's going to get rough for Democrats in this state.

The stark contrast between the conventions were striking to me. One was fear mongering and hate filled and you could tell the emotion was flat. The other jubilant, hopeful, optimistic, factual. Which America do you want to live in?

I think each convention did just what it was intended to do. A big Rah Rah for the party. Nothing more, nothing less. Neither will change anyone's minds and both will boost excitement for their respective candidates and election. I do think the better speech's were at the DNC though but that more fundamental mistakes were also made by the DNC organizers and platform committee. The GOP convention seemed more like a non event IMHO, neither positive nor negative, just blah.

Don't see how the GOP convention can be viewed as anything but a failure. I mean the #1 story to come out of it is Clint ****ing Eastwood talking to a chair and possibly showing signs of dementia. And Romney's resulting bump is at a historically low level. It was a HUGE missed opportunity. A complete failure

As everyone else said, Bill killed it last night.

Quite a few conservatives on my facebook news feed are going crazy over a picture of a lady wearing a "Once You Vote Black You Never Go Back" button last night.

Pretty stupid to wear something so divisive when you are trying to attract voters to your party.

The neo-cons scarfed up the Eastwood stuff like hungry hungry hippos. Its a success to them (I can certainly understand why the rest of us might not see it the same, but from the mindset of whom it was supposed to rev up, it worked)

Funny, in both 2000 & 2004 the Dems were fear mongering against Bush. Amazing how much things change without actually changing.

Horsecrap. The DNC was a giant orgy for the Dems. It was a cesspool for the Reps. The RNC was a giant orgy for Reps. It was a cesspool for the Dems. NOBODY outside of party stooges, watches a convention and decides who to vote for. EVERYONE knows that a convention is nothing more than a week long stroking of that party and their nominee's ego. The plans laid out to date by both parties are very generic. The complaining about lack of details from the RNC can be echoed here.

And perhaps that's why Gore and Kerry failed, well arguably Gore didn't fail, but I think Dems/Progressives do better living up to their monicker and highlighting that the better part of America lays in it's future rather than it's past.

Yeah, but fear mongering will be back as soon as a Rep wins. Let's face it, 2008 was all about "I ain't Bush", and "John McCain is just like Bush". Not exactly focusing on the future, and more focusing on the past. It's easy to paint a picture of the future if your guy is sitting in the office already. W ran in 2004 on the future. He won.
