And the only reason they lack control is because they (government) let them (terrorists) do whatever they wanted for years and years without anyone doing a single thing about it.
The ISI is still likely funding terrorist groups. It's why we didn't inform them of the OBL raid. They are a bunch of two faced bungholes.

A nuclear country with a deeply rooted history of encouraging militant activity cannot be ignored. This is not Afghanistan or Iraq. Drones may not be a great option, but IMO they are the best we can do for now.WASHINGTON - One of the top leaders of the movement of the Taliban in Pakistan said the terror group sought to overthrow the Pakistani government, impose sharia, seize the country’s nuclear weapons, and wage jihad until “the Caliphate is established across the world”.
The statements were made by Omar Khalid al Khurasani, the al Qaeda-linked leader of the Taliban in Pakistan’s branch in the Mohmand Agency, in a video that was released on jihadist web forums.
The video, which also discussed the history and evolution of the Taliban Movement in Pakistan, was released by Umar Studios and has been translated by the SITE Intelligence Group.

I'd have to learn more about those engagements before answering completely, but in general, congress should declare war or issue letters or Marque rather than handing that power over to the executive branch.
Again, there are wise reasons why those powers resided with congress and nit a President. a

SS, letters of Marque are bullThey have no place in the modern world.
Don't focus on that silly canard just because Ron Paul says it.

"The Internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea: massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it" - I wish I had said this.
Hey, I just realized how far OT we have gotten, should we take it to PM?

I am actually curious to see if the drone stuff gains any traction on the left today. I have seen 3 articles already from "left wing" sources, such as Greenwald and 2 other writers in the Atlantic

I think you're seeing, in this thread, that there are a lot of people who don't like it.
Will it affect the election? My personal opinion is that no, it won't.
Mainly because (IMO), both candidates fully intend to keep it up.
(Although I could see that maybe, a lot of people who voted for Obama because they believed that he was going to end a lot of this, (well, let's not try to come up with the correct word), might simply stay home. I could see it affecting some people, that way. Lord knows there's a whole bunch of people out there who think they voted for this stuff to end, and they feel cheated. How many of them will it actually affect? My opinion is, not that many.)
The soldiers gave three cheers as they urged their tired horses north across the uneven hills. Some of the mounts, exhausted after a week of almost continual marching, began to lag behind; others, spurred on by their enthusiastic riders, began to edge past the regiment's commander. "Boys, hold your horses," Custer cautioned; "there are plenty of them down there for us all."
If this country was intellectually honest, it should bury this President . I am not sure how bombing rescuers is anything short of "war crime" but thats just me
Of course, the other side is no better when it comes to the use of drones. Maybe they are in regards to assassinating Americans overseas![]()

Y'know, I've seen that claim made before. (I assume in this thread.)
Could you provide me some kind of link to information that says that the US is intentionally targeting first responders, who respond to US drone attacks? Cause frankly, I have a lot of trouble believing that.
(I don't have trouble believing that somebody, somewhere, says that. I have trouble believing that it could possibly be true. Or that any honest person could even honestly believe it.)

Gingrich disparages Obama, calls him 'not a real president'
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) ripped President Obama for not meeting with world leaders on his trip to the United Nations on Friday, saying Obama is “not a real president.”
“[Obama] really is like the substitute [National Football League] referees in the sense that he’s not a real president,” Gingrich told Greta Van Susteren on Fox News Tuesday night. “He doesn’t do anything that presidents do, he doesn’t worry about any of the things the presidents do, but he has the White House, he has enormous power, and he’ll go down in history as the president, and I suspect that he’s pretty contemptuous of the rest of us.”
Gingrich called Obama a “false president,” saying he has a propensity to shirk his duties.
“This is a man who in an age of false celebrity-hood is sort of the perfect president, because he’s a false president,” he said. “He’s a guy that doesn’t do the president’s job.”
Gingrich questioned whether Obama has the stamina and desire to be president.
“You have to wonder what he’s doing,” Gingrich continued. “I’m assuming that there’s some rhythm to Barack Obama that the rest of us don’t understand. Whether he needs large amounts of rest, whether he needs to go play basketball for a while or watch ESPN, I mean, I don’t quite know what his rhythm is, but this is a guy that is a brilliant performer as an orator, who may very well get reelected at the present date, and who, frankly, he happens to be a partial, part-time president.
