It seems baffling to me that Obama would shrug off advice from his handlers immediately preceeding the Denver debate and then spend the previous day touring the Hoover Dam. What seems equally weird is that immediately following the debate he thought he did just fine. It should be interesting to see how this plays out in the two remaining debates. The excuses for his performance have been hilarious to listen to though: he just doesn't care, he had altitude sickness, he had to rein in the "angry black man" look. In truth, he was just bested in the debate.

Bested by someone who lied repeatedly. It's not easy to debate that though Obama should have known it was coming based on who Romney is as a person.

Someone that has no conviction and wants to be elected for the prestige of the office and thus will say anything to be elected. I'm basing this off his 20 years of running for offices. He goes a lot further than the normal politician. Anything else about Romney I'll talk about in the Romney thread.

Obama should have seen this coming so I do blame Obama for not responding.

It is ridiculous to say FL or VA is out of reach for Obama. There are still three debates and innumerable gaffes still possible.

The two FL polls with Romney ahead were 1 day polls done the day after the debate. VA is Obama +0.3.

NC maybe. FLA is a tossup but all Obama has to do is scare, really scare the old folks, Aren't there more folks in Northern VA than the rest of the state? I say VA is a tossup.


The Electoral college still favors Obama. If Obama has another bad debate, then Mitt can have Ann start looking at drapes.
