    Agree. Not professional.

(Granted, neither is the "journalist". But still.)

    Edit:

And I would like to take this opportunity to be grateful that at least ES does not appear to have descended as far into the muck as the rest of the country.

    Edit2:

Well, except for the posters who live in the muck, all the time.

Gallup and Rasmussen kind of have been the outliers this year among the major pollsters. If they turn out to have been correct all along, they are going to get a ton of well-deserved credit (and future business).

It certainly does seem like there is some ratings driven narrative coming from this.

I actually kinda like Joe Scarborough. He's not so ideological for a talking head. And I like Nate Silver a lot, but I do see how can come off as arrogant. Especially to people, though, who don't take the time to understand what he's trying to do with his models.

Probably wasn't the most professional thing to do but I assume Silver's just frustrated with the criticism his methods are getting.

Comments like this certainly don't help:

In a post for Examiner.com, Chambers sought to discredit Silver’s recent statistical analysis that showed Romney flatlining in the presidential race. Chambers, who rose to prominence by asserting that pollsters were nefariously skewing their results in favor of Democrats, insisted that Silver’s latest finding was more indication of that perceived liberal bias.

How could Chambers tell that Silver is an untrustworthy liberal? His lack of overt masculinity, of course.

“Nate Silver is a man of very small stature, a thin and effeminate man with a soft-sounding voice that sounds almost exactly like the ‘Mr. New Castrati’ voice used by Rush Limbaugh on his program,” Chambers wrote. “In fact, Silver could easily be the poster child for the New Castrati in both image and sound.

Wow. This is interesting. Not only did The Economist endorse Obama today, but NYC Mayor Bloomberg gives his support to Obama.

NYT: Bloomberg Backs Obama, Citing Climate

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/02/ny...-decision.html

I guess Bloomberg didn't like that Romney laughed about the idea of climate change in the debate.

I happen to think climate change is absolutely real and man-made (or at least contributed to by man), but this is knee-jerk by Bloomberg.

If you read the endorsement, it is not actually all about climate change. He talks about women's reproductive rights and gay marriage. I think the storm made him decide to make his support public.

People don't get to where Bloomberg is by doing many knee jerk things.

I suspect, he and Christie are acting based on the same information.

I suspect, they both think that Obama is going to win, and long term being associated with the winner, even if they are in other parties will benefit them (though, I do understand that Christie didn't endorse Obama, but he's gone out of his way recently to cooperate and be complementary to him).

Sort of cynical, but I guess its just as good as my assessment.

The endorsement of the Economist is interesting ... essentially ... Obama has been a huge disappointment in many regards with some mitigating actions, but Romney and the GoP offers even less hope.

    We're screwed.

Yes, by all means we should judge people by their appearance Mr. Chambers....

The Economist wants more countries to share in their pain. Maybe the U.S. can apply for EU inclusion/suffering if O wins next week?
