That guy looks like a child rapist.

seriously, they ought to use his face as the poster for what to look for in a child rapist.

Makes about as much sense as the basis of his "argument"

I know the magazine fairly well having subscribed to it and also having lived in the UK. Geez, where's the sense of humor my liberal friends?

    You are a true genius.

All these posts, rife with nonsense "facts" repeated over and over long after having been debunked, these numerous baseless claims and accusations pulled directly from right-wing blogs, they've all been a joke, and we've all been too slow to catch on to your sly humor. Bravo, my friend!

    Genius, I tell you! Genius!

edit: Hey, in all seriousness, hats off to you for having subscribed to what I think is the best overall magazine on the planet. I subscribed to the print edition for a few years, eventually giving it up because 1) it can get pretty expensive, and 2) this densely packed and very interesting mag showed up EVERY WEEK making it almost impossible to do it justice reading all the stuff I wanted to read. But I still pick up a copy now and then, and hit the website on a regular basis. Great reading from a perspective somewhat removed from the noise level we generally have here. Obviously they have their own noise to contend with, but the POV is illuminating anyway.

I think the economist had one of the better summaries and fair criticisms of both, however I believe the extreme elements in the GOP have effectively sabotaged congress and government. They care more about making Obama look bad than they do about helping this country.

Thanks for the link to the actual article, Kindred.

(And, the more I read from that source, the more I respect it.)

I always thought the Economist was a great source. They're not perfect, but one of the more reliable and "independent" sources that I've found.

I have to vent here since a political conversation made my head explode.

I was in a political argument on Facebook (I know that was a mistake) but this woman was complaining about all this stuff and is voting for Romney. She didn't know Obama had cut taxes. She said her b/f firefighter couldn't get a job because the government wasn't hiring and that it was Obama's fault. She has no idea what Romney said in Wisconsin. She said Obama was the one that said "government doesn't create jobs."Then a family member of hers chimes in and says that the small company she works for in Florida had been laying off people because federal taxes have gone up so much and saying that was Obama's fault. I asked her which taxes had gone up and after about 10 minutes she asked if I had ever heard of the Federal Unemployment tax. I informed her that it went down in 2011 for the first time since 1976. Nothing since.

Oh forgot one: While awaiting which taxes had gone up the small business employee says "You must be one of those that benefited from the Obama stimulus package!" To which I kindly responded that she benefited as well since there were $250 billion in tax cuts and that her payroll tax had been cut as well.

The amount of misinformation is staggering. I never hear Romney supporters citing facts for why they are voting for him.

Here's the projected electoral map from the unskewed polls guy.

If Obama loses, he's not going to have control of the money for very much longer.

At least Christie has a pre-existing relationship with Romney, and he didn't endorse Obama so you might expect that he'd still get help.

But if Bloomberg thinks Romeny has a chance to win, how much eager do you think that a Romney administration is going to be eager to give money to NYC and its Republican mayor that had endorsed the Democratic President.

This might make sense if the election was two years off, but considering we're talking about a couple of months, it seems unlikely.

Boomberg didn't endorse anybody in 2008 because he said he had to work w/ whoever won.

Given, they are going to need money for a while and not just what the federal government can give them (and they can spend) in the next couple of months, your idea doesn't make much sense.

I'm just curious. Is there anything, ANYTHING at all that you can say about Obama that's positive?

I'd be willing to bet quite a bit of money that that won't happen. If someone gave me a bet on that map I'd be tempted to put everything I own down to say it won't happen. I think unskewed polls guy needs to look at his numbers a little better.
