You know, with all the nonsense I've been hearing from local Republicans down here in North Carolina for being a libertarian, I almost hope Obama wins just to make them shut up.

Don't you see the controversy?
Obama was speaking and he didn't use the best wording. Clearly he doesn't care about people dying!
It was a poor choice of words, but hardly so damned newsworthy that the Republicans have to make a talking point out of it and tomorrow morning Mitt Romney's going to make a talking point out of this, isn't he?
I remember once seeing a collection of politicians saying the wrong things about natural disasters.
Had things like politicians inspecting tornado damage, and then saying that they were "totally blown away" by the destruction. Or that they were "deeply moved" by the earthquake damage they'd just seen.
Kinda interesting....anyone know why they would not release them as required?

The $831,000,000,000 economic “stimulus” that President Obama spearheaded and signed into law requires his administration to release quarterly reports on its effects. But “the most transparent administration in the history of our country” is now four reports behind schedule and has so far not released any reports whatsoever in 2012. Its most recent quarterly report is for the quarter than ended on June 30, 2011.

The President seems to have brought out his Bob Dole game for the last month of the election.
This really is like watching the 4th quarter of a Redskins game. President Obama only needs #1 completion % and 4.0 speed to correct this.

Yahoo: Martin Sheen and West Wing cast reunite for little known candidate
(Story actually recounts a few political tidbits, about several candidates.)
It's fluff. But the opening paragraph is brutal.
You know it's been a bruising political season when a candidate would rather have an endorsement of a fake president than a real one.
The cast of "The West Wing" reunited in a video to endorse Michigan Supreme Court candidate Bridget Mary McCormack. Of course, it's only by complete coincidence that McCormick is the sister of actress Mary McCormack, who played the role of national security adviser Kate Harper on "The West Wing."
The endorsement video reminds Michigan voters to fill out the nonpartisan portion of their ballots that includes Supreme Court candidates.

WTO hands Obama victory in U.S.-China steel case
GENEVA/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The World Trade Organization barred China on Thursday from imposing duties on certain U.S. steel exports, siding with U.S. President Barack Obama in a dispute with Beijing over a type of steel made in two election battleground states.
The case involved duties imposed by China on "grain-oriented electrical steel," which is used in the cores of high-efficiency transformers, electric motors and generators. The steel is made by AK Steel Corp of Ohio and ATI Allegheny Ludlum of Pennsylvania.
Although the specialty steel case is tiny compared with other trade disputes with Beijing, the WTO ruling gave Obama a timely win as he defends himself against accusations by his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney, that he is soft on China.
"Today we are again plainly stating that we will continue to take every step necessary to ensure that China plays by the rules and does not unfairly restrict exports of U.S. products," Obama administration trade representative Ron Kirk said in a statement.
China's Commerce Ministry said in a statement on its website that it will "handle this case according to WTO regulations".
But ministry spokesman Shen Danyang criticized "politicization" of trade issues during the U.S. presidential campaign.
"A few American politicians have been gossiping about China-U.S. economic relations. We oppose this kind of politicization of economic and trade relations," Shen told a news conference, adding that China had "some worries" that campaign rhetoric could affect broader ties.
Reading the article now. IMO, anything that's recommended by twa and Predicto, I've got to check out.
Just got sidetracked, though. They had a link to a cover story "Who Won The Great Recession?" (which is actually multiple articles.) And it's really interesting reading, too.
Edit: OK, finished reading the article on Obama's foreign policy.
Just me, but I see a lot of suggestions on how he should implement staff meetings, not much on actual foreign policy.
Which doesn't in any way mean they aren't good ideas. Just saying there's nothing "sexy" in there.
Edit: I'm really enjoying those articles on "Who Won the Great Recession."
For example, I'm reading one contributor who lists Mexico as a winner. (Who, apparently, is close to passing China as the US's second-biggest trading partner. (After Canada, also one of the supposed winners.))

Yep, Romney is doing what the Broncos did Monday Night, being down 24 points at half, then coming out and taking control of the game. Romney was up 7 points in yesterday's Gallup poll and up 6 points today. It's starting to look like the Stormin' Mormon is going to be the next PotUS. It's not over yet though. There is still one more debate left. Obama has so much stuff coming up at the worst possible time, with the Libya cluster fudge and such. That said, it's not over yet and anything can happen.

This election went from looking like Kerry vs. Bush to Reagan vs. Carter. It's looking more like 1980 than 2004.

Obama had a strong day of polls in swing states today. He's up a fair bit in our forecast, to 70.4% from 65.7%.
