He gave the order to get OBL.

He'd probably be a great guy to drink a beer and watch the game with.

Given, they are going to need money for a while and not just what the federal government can give them (and they can spend) in the next couple of months, your idea doesn't make much sense.
    Horse Hockey.

First of all, those places need help right now. Why in the hell would you not be seen with the POTUS if he comes to see the damage first hand. That's their job: get as much help as you can for your city or state as quickly as you can in the case of a national emergency.

BTW, didn't Bloomberg turn down the President's offer to visit NYC because they needed to devote their efforts/resources to the city/people? The Mayor with a moment of clarity!

Bloomberg Backs Obama, Citing Fallout From Storm
    By RAYMOND HERNANDEZ
    Published: November 1, 2012 917 Comments

In a surprise announcement, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said Thursday that Hurricane Sandy had reshaped his thinking about the presidential campaign and that as a result, he was endorsing President Obama.

Mr. Bloomberg, a political independent in his third term leading New York City, has been sharply critical of Mr. Obama, a Democrat, and Mitt Romney, the president’s Republican rival, saying that both men had failed to candidly confront the problems afflicting the nation. But he said he had decided over the past several days that Mr. Obama was the better candidate to tackle the global climate change that he believes might have contributed to the violent storm, which took the lives of at least 38 New Yorkers and caused billions of dollars in damage.

This same mayor has declared that the NYC marathon will still take place this weekend. That will lift everyone who doesn't have power spirits. I'm also sure that the Feds are in touch with Bloomberg in other ways to get the assistance they need.

If that's the case, why did Christie go on Fox News and basically tell them he really didn't give a crap if Mitt (the guy he supposedly endorsed) was gonna make a visit to NJ?

Also, Mayor Bloomberg just endorsed Obama.

NY Mayor Bloomberg Endorses Obama in Presidential Race

But I suppose it's just because these mooching states think Obama can get them more money than Romney. Dirty moochers leeching off the federal governments teat. They should all just get jobs! They didn't build that natural disaster that leveled their cities!

They do need help right now, but they'll get it right now irregardless of what Bloomberg and Christie do because the attention is there. And even after the election.

As long as they have press attention, there will be attention to getting them help.

Even if Obama loses and he didn't get an endorsement from Bloomberg, he'd help NYC because there will be public pressure to help NYC, while it is in the news.

The issue in these sorts or cases is 6 months down the road when the press and people's attention have moved on to other things.

The unskewed polls guy doesn't do numbers himself. All he does is take numbers that others have amassed, declared them "biased" in favor of liberals because of (mostly nonexistent) party affiliation weighting, and then adds on his own (completely arbitrary and subjective) weighting "back" to make things ostensibly "even" between the two. Basically he just grabs polls, adds more to the "R" column and then publishes it.

Because politics doesn't matter when your state just got wiped out?

If a tornado strikes your house brandy, wipes it out and you're standing outside looking at the damage/devastation and I roll up in a truck with money, food, blankets and an offer to get you to shelter and help you out, do you really give a damn whether I'm a R or a D?

    Do you people even think?

Unskewed polls is a perfect example of the concept that there is a market for telling people what they want to hear. The website is very low quality but I would bet he is making good coin assuring people that Romney is about to score a historic landslide victory.

edit: Hey, in all seriousness, hats off to you for having subscribed to what I think is the best overall magazine on the planet. I subscribed to the print edition for a few years, eventually giving it up because 1) it can get pretty expensive, and 2) this densely packed and very interesting mag showed up EVERY WEEK making it almost impossible to do it justice reading all the stuff I wanted to read. But I still pick up a copy now and then, and hit the website on a regular basis. Great reading from a perspective somewhat removed from the noise level we generally have here. Obviously they have their own noise to contend with, but the POV is illuminating anyway.
It's a crazy world out there when you find there are views other than your own. I'm glad to hear you're stretching your wings my friend.

The funny thing is that the most conservative states are also the states that take the most money from the federal government, while barely giving any backs in taxes. Democratic states are typically the opposite
