With 43 million we can easily add 2 o-lineman (Meyers/Grubbs), 1 CB (Carr), at least 1 WR (Meecham) and depending on Laron another safety (Branch)
If we are feeling like having real fun add in Solai to have a very nice "3" in the 3-4 with Jenkins, Solai, Coefield
That still leaves enough cash for rookies, our own guys and we have flexibility going forward
Along with that, those moves allow us to "be aggressive" as everyone told me Shanny would be in acquiring his QB in the draft

The hotter the heat, the harder the steel, no pressure no diamonds, we compete, we win
We are the next decade of the Washington Redskins
So how does this figure into the equation if we 'drop' or 'lose' contracts on say players like.. say, Landry or Cooley? 'Scuse me for my ignorance but I ain't too good on figurin' them numbers..
No, from a cap management standpoint you really want to know how much "dead money" is hitting you from your individual decisions, both from an historic and planning perspective. It is easier to do this when you separate the "dead money" from the "live money" even down to the individual level.
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.
I highly doubt we'd restructure him given the free space we have. We probably don't need any of the cap space we could create in a restructure and a restructure would make it harder for us to do anything like cut him if he gets nailed again and wouldn't really change how much cash we got to pay him anyway (which is pretty much only Snyder's concern anyway).

Actually, from a cap standpoint, Vinny and Danny specifically structured contracts starting in 2008 to allow most of what we did in 2010. For instance, the structure of the option bonus to Hall (put in the contract let in 2009) drastically reduced how much would be outstanding if we moved him. The contract let to Haynesworth in 2009 contained an option for the Redskins to give him a roster bonus that would eliminate future guarantees thus allowing us to move him with only minimal cap damage (remnants from his original SB.

Top quality info, thanks. Had been reading up on this & warpath's earlier. To think we could land at $50m in cap space if the actually cap reaches ~$125m is staggering.
Couldn't agree more. This is set perfect to trade up for our QB. I'm all for keeping draft picks as the norm', but this just set up too damn good for the trade up scenario. We can't pass on this chance.
It's fantastic to see that we have so much space. What a refreshing change from the vinny era, when we had to be creative to get under the cap with all the overpriced dead weight on the roster. Great thread!
IF we do end up with 45 to 50 MILLION dollars of cap space, this FO will be able to fill alot of holes this off season. Feels great knowing they will do so SMARTLY for a change. Great thread Btw.
TK has said that with our carry over, we could be around $50 million under. He'd be the one to know.
Carry over, a few possible restructures, & a couple of cuts.
But yeah, PCinOZ is the last of a dying breed when it comes to Cap info like this. Couple of times I've thought about getting a Cap page going here on ES, but then I remember two things. 1) I'm crazy, but I ain't that frigging crazy & 2) I have an off the board life I enjoy as well.
Props to PC for doing it & sharing it with us over here. Now if PCS would take 6 beers & 2 cheerleaders out of the ES petty cash fund for him for his troubles....![]()
