My lord did you guys see the missed call at first base by Tim Welke in the Dodgers/Rockies game? Todd Helton was literally two feet off the bag when he caught the ball and they called the runner out.

I've said it for the past 5 years....we need instant replay in baseball. Mostly for close plays at the bags/plate. This was just ridiculous though.

Then games would last 4 hours and Yankees/Red Sox games would last 6 hours. Forget that. What is really needed are robots.

    I'm serious.

    Congrats to Jered

Heard of him throwing a no-hitter whilst in progress, but the Caps overtime period was on and that took priority

    So gratz

Or maybe, get rid of some of the old timers and retrain the one's who aren't ready for social security. Kind of like how hockey had to retrain the refs to call more penalties to make the game better.

Rivera might have tore his knee up shagging fly balls during warmups today. Girardi nudged his bad leg a little bit. Pretty negligent.

Huge blow for the Yankees. I hate the Yankees, but nothing but respect for Rivera.

    And Meniscus.

As much as I hate, loathe and despise anything New York Yankee, I'd hate to see him go out this way. Tough break.

Sucks to see a legend like Rivera go out because of an injury doing something silly like shagging flyballs. Seriously they couldn't have someone else do it?

Pitchers do it to track balls and maintain leg strength. Jeremy Guthrie (who just injured himself on a bicycle) used to run around and try and rob homers during BP.

There are a good handful of pitchers who can hit, but what about hitters that can pitch?

    Babe Ruth, and this guy...
