I picked the Tigers in 6 but I had a feeling the Giants were gonna win. I think a lot of people overrated the Tigers just a bit. They weren't exactly a 100+ win team that dominated everybody all season.

We'll see if MadBum's delivery was truly fixed tonight. Even though the Tigers have problems with lefties, I'm hoping that MadBum pitches his guts out.

BTW - the value of having a center fielder playing left field seems to have been perfectly demonstrated last night. If only he could have gotten his bat going last night too (not that they needed it - but they will eventually).

I don't think the Tigers are a juggernaut. In fact, I think the Giants are better top to bottom. I just thought Verlander and that bullpen would be enough to get the edge in a 7-game series. I did not expect anything like last night.

In his 2 full seasons, Buster Posey has gone to the World Series 2 times.

    He's going to get spoiled.

    I liked this piece.

95 mph chest-high fastball. Another 95 mph fastball, this one at the knees on the outside corner of the plate. A tumbling breaking ball headed for the dirt. These are the three pitches that Pablo Sandoval hit out of the park last night. It's very likely that no other player in baseball would've hit those pitches out of the yard, because no other player would've thought to swing at them.

Last night's MVP was either MadBum, MadBum, MadBum, the 3rd base line, or the Reverend Pence.

Not to get ahead of myself, especially since baseball is a fickle sport and the Tigers could easily take the next three - but were/are the Reds and Cards maybe better teams than the Tigers?

    Discuss.

I'm taking a more pessimistic long view of the series and fully expecting it to return to SF for a Game 6 clinch.

The thing in the Giants favor right now is they've faced Detroit's 2 best guys. The Giants still have Cain, Lincecum, and Voglesong ready to go. I was for sure the Tigers would win this thing in 6, but now I'm saying the Giants in 5.

I'm still stunned that Fister didn't crack something when that liner went off his head and flew another 100+ feet in the air.

It didn't just graze him either.

    edit..in case anyone didn't hear...Bravo.

True, but the Tigers are much, much tougher against righties than they are against lefties. I am very nervous about a fly ball righthander like Cain pitching to the Tigers in Comerica. Plus, the Giants haven't hit a lick against Anibel Sanchez. He murdered them when he was a Marlin.

So I expect the Tigers to take game 3, perhaps in a blowout.

    Vogey's pitching game 3.

Ack, what was I thinking? I knew that.

Actually, that makes it worse. I don't think we can score off of Sanchez at all, and I don't think the Tigers can keep from hitting a couple of dingers against Cain at Comerica. That puts both games 3 and 4 to their advantage.
