Hey, bro, I may be younger then you, but I know how you feel. I never saw the redskins win a championship, but was in DC for when the Terps won it all. A lot of things gone in my life that I've start to use sports as more of a distraction then another thing to hinge my life on from day to day. I swear the only team I let piss me off like this is the redskins, and its certainly not because I miss the glory days. I was 3 years old the last time we won the super bowl.

Baseball is such a frustrating sport in a lot of ways. The things you need to win over 162 games are completely different than the things you need to win over 7 games. And even if you have the thing you need to win in 7 games (Verlander), there is no guarantee that this will work.

    Nats - Giants NLCS

    Nats win

Then because NL > AL, Nats beat Tigers?

Nats had it and blew it damn it
The Nats could have had the Giants on the brink of elimination just like the Reds and Cardinals did, and the Giants still would have come back and won.

Does Melky Cabrera get a ring?

As I said a month or two ago, you need experience to win in the playoffs (usually). I didn't think the Nats would go far because they lacked it.

I suspect Melky will get a ring...and I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants resign him cheap in the offseason.

That said, I'm not sure they should. The priorities have to be resigning Pagan and, to a lesser extent, Marco Scutaro.

I love how the media *******s keep trying to explain how such and such did the Tigers in. Why not just give credit were credit is due and say the Giants out-pitched, out-hit, out-defensed, out-hustled, and out-coached the Tigers?

So did the Marlins. I don't see their fans complaining.

I'm not upset at all about the Giants winning, but I do support the AL, sans the Yankees. So long as the Yankees didn't win it, I'm good with whoever else wins it.

oh yeah, but we won both games. pesky details....

The thing that keeps coming up in playoff baseball seems to be the quality of your fielders. The pressure is so high that guys who are mediocre in the field tend to kick a few balls around. The teams that are solid defensively don't do that, and it makes all the difference. Hitting comes and goes, but defense keeps you in games.

Also, I continue to be surprised how many people think this was some kind of fluke. The Giants had a better record than the Tigers, and the Tigers barely won the weakest division in baseball. They have some great pieces, but they are not a complete team.

As an aside, I expect to see the Nationals playing in the NLCS next year. Hopefully they will be playing against the Giants.

Why should I? It ends outside my office window. In fact, in 2010, I climbed out onto the ledge to watch the parade, and ended up on the tv feed. I saw myself on the Jumbotron (looking like a complete idiot risking my life). My kid was watching the feed at a school assembly, and everyone started yelling "Hey is that your dad?"

The state has since put pigeon spikes on my ledge. I don't think it has anything to do with pigeons... I think it is to keep Predictos from nesting out there.

    Ha - that's funny Predicto.

I still see (and I'm sure I will be wrong) a DBacks type of regression next year for the Nats. As for the AL - I expect the Tigers to be back, provided they get back a healthy Victor Martinez. He will definitely be able to offset anything they might lose from Delmon Young going elsewhere.

The Tigers are bringing back Jim Leyland for 2013. I don't think Leyland did a bad job--AL teams seem to get used to playing "wait for the 3-run homer" game which doesn't seem to play well in the World Series (at least lately)

Sergio Romo for the win (with the awesome tshirt) at yesterday's parade.

Sergio Romo is the most likeable figure in American sports today. The more you hear him, the more you read about him, the more you will like him.

First picture to the lower left of Romo, I'm not sure which player that is, but he has the McKayla Maroney not impressed look on his face. The one with the sunglasses on top of his head.

And Wilson and Romo need to get rid of those hideous beards. They're not funny, clever or stylish. Move on.
