Huge trade looking to take place!!!
Marlins sending Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Emilio Bonafacio, and John Buck to the Blue Jays for what sounds like Yunel Escobar and a bunch of prospects.

I mean are the Marlins even a team anymore?
All that fanfare last year for nothing. Wow...might as well contract them. Giancarlo Stanton will be gone soon as well

DC Sports: The Curse Is Real
<@Afino> Adam Proteau @Proteautype
<@Afino> As Expos owner, Jeffrey Loria took away from Canada. Today, as Marlins owner, he gave back
The only thing that can replace the expos leaving is the expos coming back- not to say give them the Nationals, maybe the Marlins could move there, lol.
As a Jays fan this is big, Johnson is a question mark with injury issues, word is he might not pass a physical, but everything else sounds great. The marlins signed buck after the jays didn't match his offer a few years ago, but he's in it as a swap of backup catchers, with Mathis going to Miami. Don't know all the pieces going back, a few young good prospects like SS heciverria, and OF Gose, then others who are a few years away like P Nicolino. I'm amazed they kept Travis D'Arnaud their best prospect in a trade like this.
Now the jays need to move Brett Lawrie to 2nd base where he belongs and get a power hitting 3rdbaseman, the Jays could be unstoppable. Oh, and they also need a manager, lol. I bet the Jays have gotten some calls about that opening since the trade was announced.
Most fans acknowledged that the jays needed 2 starting pictures this offseason but no one thought they would get them in one trade, plus swapping out public enemy #1 in yunel Escobar for Jose freaking Reyes are you kidding me? His deal gets scary in a few years $22mil/ year buy hopefully he can still produce at the end of the deal.
Generally, Jays fans around here are freaking ecstatic. The hardcore nuts want to know EVERY player going to Miami before making their call, but overall this is seen as a huge positive trade for the Jays

Congrats to Davey Johnson and Bob Melvin for winning Managers of the Year. I thought Bruce Bochy might get some more votes, but I guess his 2nd WS ring in 3 years means little (and yes, I know the votes took place before the postseason) - but c'mon Bochy is criminally underrated and underappreciated by the east coast media. Give the man his due.
As for the other story, why would a FA ever sign with the Marlins now? Especially after they just signed a lot of them and flipped them within a year? I do feel bad for the Marlins fans. All 17 of them.

Nats should put together a package of mid tier prospects to get Stanton.
Dade-County and the city of Miami should sue Loria and MLB should try and force him to sell that team. I read the FBI are looking into dude's financial affairs also with regards to how he claimed poor in order to get the city and county to pay for the stadium in whole. He is pocketing all profit from that stadium, regardless if they win or lose.
It's amazing, despite 2 world titles in their 20 year history, Loria has effectively killed baseball in Miami.
Their really wasn't baseball in Miami. Despite the occasional winning years, the people never have supported that team.
They should already have been sold & relocated. Instead, the city and MLB doubled down on Miami and now are stuck with a craptastic owner, a bad franchise, and no fan base.
Hey..they are the A's but without the winning.

^^^And they just built that stadium.
The best use now for that stadium is as an indoor flea market.
@Chris_DFB
He needs to be forced t o sell the team to someone who cares. You build a $600 mill stadium to then ship off all your talent? Really? And this will draw fans in...how exactly? Thank God we have competent owners/GM in Washington. That is embarrassing. If I'm Stanton I refuse to play or demand to be traded now. Immediately.
And the Marlins will still own the Nats. Just watch. **** has never made sense.
Something isn't right with the universe when a franchise like the Marlins can win rings but teams like the Cubs can't.
What a terrible organization. Nats need to make a move for Stanton.
