I don't know if I'd go that far. This team wasn't supposed to win 70 games. Hell, I get frustrated at how much the Yankees keep winning, year in and year out. Every year I keep saying they are getting old and every year they win 90+ games. I guess they are doing it with smoke and mirrors. I've been saying they are getting old and should start regressing since Bernie Williams, Paul O'Neill, Jorge Posada and now twice with Andy Petitte, but they keep winning.

Orioles are on the cover of Sports Illustrated...damn.

The media ignored them, then cursed them.

That doesn't make any sense. The Yankees have lost two of their last three after a long win streak. The Orioles have lost three of four after a long win streak. Both teams were winning at the same time, and both teams started losing at the same time. I don't think that seeing the Yankees lose has had any effect on the motivation of the O's. If anything, the Yankees losing has made the O's lose more.

Maybe the fans are fixated on the Yankees, but I don't see any of that in the players. They look focused on the Jays, Red Sox, and Rays. That's who we have to beat to get into the playoffs.

I know Reynolds went on a tear for about two weeks, but he is really frustrating the hell out of me lately. I've seen a multitude of opportunities for him with RISP and he's not delivering. Bad time to go cold Mark.

It seems like we always get these guys that can be red hot for a couple of weeks, then go ice cold for a month. Honestly, Jones and Markakis are the only consistent hitters we have. That needs to change next year.

Not to sound defeatist, but after losing 3 of 4 and having the A's and Angels breathing down our necks I've re-calibrated my hopes for 2012. I want to host the wild card game. That would be incredible! If we win a couple in a row and get some space between ourselves and the #2 WC again, then I'll check to see where we stand in relation to the Yankees.

red sox have a $175 million pay roll and have been sitting at home in october the last few years...

Also, our pay roll is $197 million and the plan is to get down to $184 by 2014. Jussayin'

    Did someone already post this:

Pretty cool and fun to watch.

Reynolds seems like a nutbag. Let's hang 10+ on Toronto tonight.

Brave, we're usually on the same side, but are you saying there's a difference between $197 million and $200 million? As for the Sox, they cut a lot of salary and look for them to reload next year. I can just imagine what they're gonna offer Hamilton next year. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if that team in NY, not named the Nets, jump right in the Hamilton sweepstakes.

By cutting payroll, they're still gonna almost double most other teams payroll.

I was bs'ing with the first part.

As far as Hamilton goes, Grandy still has a year left and they're looking at Upton to play LF...Now the Mets may go after him lol

My point is that I hate when ppl use the pay roll excuse...Our 2 MVPs this year are Jeter (homegrown) and Soriano (on a 2 millon 1 year deal).

They never point out how we USED (Cano, Jeter, Rivera, Hughes?, Pettitte, Posada, Nova?) to be great at getting the most of the youngins and or how shrewd we are currently for getting depth (Jones, Chavez, Ibanez, McGhee)...especially this year

But I'm not sidetracking the thread...sorry I've gone on so long
