and the other stuff....irrelevant. This is the O's thread and I've sidetracked it enough
In any O's thread, if we have the opportunity to give a yankees fan some ****, it's not derailing the thread, it's encouraged.

It's awesome that LJ is up, he earned it this year. Not sure where he fits in next year yet. Some interesting decisions for the O's to make but for the first time in 15 seasons, I'm not thinking about the off-season until the off-season actually starts.

The years of losing has killed off that ability to keep the optimist switch on in the old noggin. I wasn't usually thinking "we're doomed!" but I was certainly thinking "We'll see."
All those years of losing is why I stayed optimistic. I decided I was just going to enjoy the winning since it had been so long and if the O's ever went down in flames, so be it. I've definitely been hard on some individual players this year and I was totally wrong in thinking about moving JJ to the starting rotation. Also, others here were right about Strop just wearing down.

Anyways, I just love the dynamic of this thread.

Being a Redskins, Wizards, Capitals and Orioles fan has made me the eternal pessimist. With only 6 games left, I never thought we'd be close to 90 wins. Like I said about 2 weeks ago, even if we don't make the playoffs, August and September has been real fun for me (for once) and it makes next year look bright. With that said, I still want a playoff berth and it would be a shame to win 90+ games and not make it. We need to win 4 out of the last 6 and we're in. We need the Jays and White Sox to win tonight. That would put us 1 game out of NY and up 4 games on the Rays with 6 to play.

Pessimism or optimism, I'm just glad to see the passion.

Doyler those month recaps were fantastic. Thank you.

Time to enjoy a day off and get ready for those Red Sawx - who have given up on their season.
“I just wanted to say to the fans … in D.C. and across the nation, they’ve been great for us, cheering us on. At away games they show up in the masses and at home they really made it feel like a home-field advantage. We said this when I was in college, ‘We got a chance to sit at the dinner table and experience success and it was a good meal. But now we want to go back to get dessert.’ We’ll be ready to get dessert next year.”

The Jays looked as if they had given up the season until the played us. We better be prepared for a fight.

but it's crazy that no teams in the AL have clinched playoff spots yet. 6 or 7 games to go, and every division race is close, with the wild card even closer. Eight teams are competing for five spots.

It's going to be a crazy last week to a crazy season.

But I'm glad I've been along for the ride. I've got tickets for Saturday night. Let's do this O's!

Hopefull they take that fire to the Yanks over the next 3 days and then give up on the season.

Pretty big day today for the O's. They get to rest up and hope that some or all of the following games go their way:

    Oak (Blackley) at Tex (Harrison)
    Sea (Iwakuma) at LAA (Haren)
    NYY (Nova) at Tor (Morrow)
    TB (Sheilds) at CWS (Peavy)

If somehow all 4 go our way, we'll have a little margin for error heading into tomorrow's big series vs. Boston.
"Washington strolled to the NFC championship, outscoring their two playoff opponents by a combined total of 48 points. Their domination was more than impressive, it was historic. The 1991 Redskins boasted the largest average margin of victory among all Super Bowl champions."

Huge day of scoreboard watching on our last off day of the season. Texas already up 1-0 on Oakland and still threatening in the first.

Make that 3-0 in the first. Michael Young heck of a player over the last decade, doesn't get much press out this way.

Unfortunately, the Yanks get Toronto for 4 games and close at home against the Red Sox. And the Yanks have been on a good tear the last month, waking up for the post season.

I would love to win the division somehow, but the Yanks have a pretty sweet situation in front of them.

Lol Jeremy Accardo sighting in the Rangers/As game. Just another daily reminder of how happy I am with the O's this season.
