I guess this is the part that I don't understand. You and your dad grew up, lived and died (figuratively of course) with the Indians, but now you're diehard Nats fans. While I understand the loyalty to the DC area, I'm not sure I could just turn it off and turn it on like that. I live in the Charlotte area and that would be like if I grew up living here rooting for the Redskins from 1976 (first year I started watching them) until the city of Charlotte got the Panthers in 1995 and then all of the sudden became a Panthers fan. I couldn't do it. Alot of Redskin fans here couldn't do it. But, like I said, to each his own, it's not my job to determine who people root for, just that this debate gets so old year after year and it's usually a NATS fan trolling (not you) and starting this ****.[COLOR="Gold"]
It was a weird transition but I get to (well, not now since I'm in Boston) see the Nationals every day with the local media and shirts and jerseys and talk etc. The Indians played hundreds of miles away. We still wish them well and try to keep up with them but that era of players is gone (Lofton, Belle, Vizquel, Ramirez, Thome etc.). I will say though, the Jake in the 90s was amazing. Sold out nightly and actually sold out not the joke Red Sox "sellout" streak.

I certainly couldn't see myself changing again. I have my hometown team. We'd been waiting all this time, don't see what's hard to get.

I don't get this line of thinking either. I'm a big Caps fans and I have been in Raleigh since the Hurricanes came to North Carolina. It didn't even occur to me to switch allegiances from the Capitals to the Canes. It's all Canes around here all the time including being on TV all the time. I hope the Canes do well (if the Capitals are out of the playoffs) and it's fun going to a game but I'm a Caps fan through and through.

Ugh. Why does #1 sound more appealing?
I don't know. I actually like the tiebreaker scenario. We'd have to win one out of two home playoff games to advance to the ALDS (either the one game tiebreaker, or the wild card game).

On a sidenote, as much as people have complimented the extra wildcard team, imagine today's games under the old system. We'd be in a "win and you're in; lose and you're out" scenario. The A's and Rangers have the earlier game, so the loser of that would anxiously be watching to see what happened with us.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather play the A's despite how bad the Rangers have looked.

LOL. The Sox could be up 6-0 in the 5th and I'd still believe they'd lose.

Yup. There is no chance the Yanks lose tonight. The Red Sox have zero fight left in them. If you can't get up for a big game against your most hated rival, you shouldn't be playing.

    Let's pray for that.

I'll tell you what, Tillman is turning into an Ace. He is our workhorse that can turn it on and be relied upon for a big game. Tonight's game is HUGE. We NEED to lock up a home game in the playoffs and Tillman will make that happen. I'm drooling over what he can do next year.

I got tickets for tmr's game if it happens. I doubt it but it would have if the Red Sox were a somewhat competent team.

I just want to see ONE home playoff game at least. I have tickets to the Wildcard, Game 1 and 2 of the ALDS. Never thought I'd get to say that before I turned the age of 50.

I'm still pissed about the Red Sox and Bailey. You could tell he had nothing out there. Nothing. Located nothing and had a dead straight fastball. They got a tack on run and still blew it.

At the end of the day it's still the Orioles fault. Can't depend on others to win for you.

I also have a ticket for game 1 if it happens. I'll buy you a beverage if it happens!

I was listening to the B.S Report yesterday and Bill Simmons was saying that with Tillman and Gonzalez, they've won 21 of their 29 starts. That's impressive!

I agree with Tillman becoming an ace but I really think you should save him for either a game vs. the yankees tomorrow night for the division or if the Yanks win save him for the A's or Rangers in the play in game. To me it seems like Buck is gonna go with Saunders and that scares me a bit. I think he's going experience over youth.

I've pretty much given up hope on the Red Sox. For me, its all about having the O's win and hosting the wildcard game. If the Red Sox can help us out, great; but I'm not even thinking about that until they go to the 7th or 8th inning with a lead.

The switching loyalties is what I don't get. If you were living in the DC area and were a Senators fan in 1972 and they packed up and left for Texas, I could see someone who didn't adopt a team like the Orioles as their team and waited the entire 33 years for a team, becoming a Nats fan. That part I "get." I remember going into RFK in the late 70s and 80s and seeing the "baseball in DC" sign behind the visitor's bench. I like baseball, so the O's were it. I'm not sure I could have waited 33 years for a team, because in 1979, when the O's played the Pirates in the WS, I was swept up as an 11 year old. They were on TV, in the Washington Post, on the local DC newscasts every night and it got better when they won the WS in 1983 over Philly.

Kudos to those "DC" fans who are old enough to have waited the entire 33 years. I couldn't. I'm a sports nut and wanted/needed a team to root for. I mean, I'm basically a DC supporter rooting for the Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, United and Mystics. Hell, I was a fan of the Washington Federals in the USFL "AND" when reading the sports page, I looked at the women's professional soccer standings and hoped the Washington Freedom with Mia Hamm would do well. I'm not sure how much MORE pro DC I can get other than the Nationals.

That's what burns my ass about all the self rightous Nats fans. I'm DC through and though with ONE exception. I'm also a Terps fan and they aren't even my alma mater, even though the Terps aren't technically DC, but I could never get into G-Town as I hated the racist John Thompson, but that's for another conversation. Quite frankly, I'm tired of defending myself against Nationals fans like GACOLB, because I don't have to answer to anyone and they're only making themselves out to look like asses. And I know it burns the asses of most of the Nats fans that have been coming in here to talk smack, that we aren't sitting in 5th place trying to salvage a 70 win season. They're boiling and I know it.

It's hard to blame the Red Sox when we just swept them. The fact that they are terrible has definitely helped us along the way. We won 13 games against the Red Sox this year, which is the most games we've beaten any team. The Yankees have won 12, so it would actually be even if the Red Sox lost again tonight.
