He'd have to be walked A LOT then. He has only 13 on the season.

Nice grind-it-out win against the Rays. Down early, our pitcher roughed it out to keep us close and we got a couple timely hits. Let's take this series!

Adam Jones and Nick Markakis also connected for the Orioles, who lead the majors with 53 homers.
When was the last time the O's lead the MLB in homers? Wow, that's a change.

Every other in baseball would take 32 on their squad. Sometimes I wish he didn't block the plate so well as that collision was vicious.

I believe Reynolds hurt his oblique during BP and Hammel was sore before his scheduled start.

Rays have five (FIVE!) errors tonight in 5 innings.

But it's the O's defense that's hurting too. Matusz was out of this inning on what should've been a double play.

It doesn't matter who plays at third this year. He WILL suck. And Betemit has to pick that.

This has been impressive. They bounced back from a horrible series against the Rangers (while preventing a sweep), outlasted the Sox in 17, have won their last 7 straight against the AL East, which includes now at least a win of the series if not a sweep against the Rays, who were tied for 1st coming in. I almost cannot believe what I'm seeing out of this team.

i cant believe it either.. and i probably wont until i see the final record above .500. ive seen too many orioles teams start off hot then fall apart. it seems our depth is much better this year than in years past, and no names are contributing to wins (hall tonight, n. johnson last night, betemit, etc.)

it's amazing what a stellar bullpen can do for a team. i hope we can keep it up, cuz we're really only a sweep away from 4th place. also, we really need to cash in on free agents/trades if we are in the run of things by all star break. i still dont see our pitching being good long term, and most of our bullpen is on short contracts (i think). need to get some good players while the gettins good.

but for now, go Orioles, 1st place in the AL

Could be wrong, but I'm guessing 1996...

Not to mention the relatively recent struggles on Sundays in general. I seem to recall that not too long ago it was almost an automatic L every Sunday.

What happened to Patton's velocity? Didn't he use to be a low-mid 90's pitcher?
