Per Rotoworld (2/22/12): Redskins coach Mike Shanahan "loves" Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden

I don't mean to single this post out...but these types of posts crack me up.

We have "insiders" on this board who have admitted that there is no way to know what Shanahan and Allen will do come April. So, to claim that this is simply a smokescreen is ridiculous. Even someone like TK or LL56 might have information that Shanahan is leaning toward trading up for RG3 or trading back for Tannehill (I made those scenarios up as examples). But that doesn't mean anyone knows what will happen in 2 months. It's just as likely that we end up with Weeden as it is we end up with anyone else.

Can't this report that Shanahan loves Weeden simply mean that Shanahan loves Weeden? It doesn't have to be false information purposely released. It doesn't have to mean we're going to draft him. It could just be a coach who appreciates what a player brings to the table. I'm sure I could find an article stating that Shanahan loves Aaron Rodgers, but reading that wouldn't automatically ring a bell in my brain that he's either pretending that's the case or about to trade 8 firsts for him.

After watching those highlights... I would rather go with someone else. he misfire quite a bit and it also looked like he does not do a good job of moving off of his first target.

Weedon will take time to develope which might not be the ideal situation when you are 28.

I have to agree. That was a Blackmon highlight reel, and a couple of his other receivers looked decent breaking tackles, but Weedon didn't impress me much at all. I thought he was better before I watched that. There weren't many on target throws past 5 yards, and most passes that went longer were due to a broken tackle by the receivers.

I'm hoping we go a different direction, but whatever.

The only reason to draft Weeden, is maybe Trent Williams & Fred Davis would protect him with their lives.

I wouldn't support taking him in the 1st round and would be hesitant to take him in the 2d as well. I'd be ok with him in the 3rd.

Having no inside knowledge whatsoever, I can positively confirm that Shanahan does indeed love Weeded.

He likes Griffin and Luck too, but only as friends.

Weeden is actually pretty damn good. If he wasn't 28 he would certainly be a first rounder. He make some real NFL throws.

It depends on a lot of factors, but if we just straight jumped from 6 to into the 20s, we should get at least a 1st next year and a 2nd this year in addition to their 1st. Depending on the player they want and the team trading up (like if Richardson is there and somebody really wants him badly) we might be able to squeeze an extra pick out of them, probably a 3rd or 4th.

Alternatively, we could trade back twice and pick up 2 extra 2nds this year (and maybe some later picks). That wouldn't be too bad.

I think Weeden is the best quarterback in the draft after Luck and RG3. The only thing keeping his stock down is his age.
