This is so damn amateurish on the leagues part. I've never heard of ANYTHING like this!

Getting the NFLPA,apparently,to agree on this whole thing and the 2012 salary cap figure is what caused them to be so late with finalizing that figure. That was done when? This past Saturday? So they basically waited a day before getting ready to "punish the Redskins and Cowboys,(and the Raiders and Saints to a much lesser extent). I don't know. I'm beginning to agree with what was said earlier about this. I think the NFL was simply going to lower the figure, notify Dallas and Washington,(then all the other teams),then let the Redskins and Cowboys decide the amount or something else. All pretty quietly. Then Schefter broke the news and all hell broke loose.![]()
Even Peter King has our back right now. What in the world is going on right now?!
Peter King @SI_PeterKing
Two things I don't like re NFL's cap penalty on Wash/Dall: Timing--You tell a team 24 hrs before FA about a 36m cut in spending? Ridiculous.
And there's a reason 2010 was called 'uncapped.' That should have meant teams could allocate money how they saw fit. I don't like this.

Seems like the start of FA needs to be delayed...
:gaintsuck
I don't think I've seen anyone in support of the NFL on this. When 2 guys that aren't huge Skins supporters, King and Florio, are taking the Skins side. You know the NFL messed up.
Here's a chart that shows the contracts each team had that violated the league's contract increase and no dumping money into uncapped year rule.

no way the NFL can get away with this, people like King will investigate, they will find contracts like the Bears for 35 million and print it and ask why they weren't punished
