This is an extremely risky move for the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Senate or House investigation of this issue. This is clearly collusion and there are a lot of Skins and Boys fans on Capitol Hill.

I really hope Allen and the crew can decide how much of that cap they can take off this season and have to submit something in writing to NFL offices. It can say something like:
"The Redskins will be giving up $0.01 of salary cap space this year."![]()
Sounds like every media outlet is behind the Skins and Cowboys in this. My question is, will they act to stop this? Also, I thought I read somewhere that the league already stripped 18 million of our cap? I thought we could divide it any way we saw fit? Isn't it smarter to push more into next year since the cap will go up significantly?

I believe in the Redskins, therefore I'm the enemy.
I'm having trouble believing this whole thing could fly. Too many problems, contradictions, and straight-up fallacies. I'm not sure what Goodell was thinking, but he put himself in a lose-lose situation. Sucks to be him.

There's a word for what's happening right now, in English. I believe we call it "conspiracy." This is crazy.
It boils down to this:
If we let this go, it sets the Redskins and the Cowboys up to be at a constant disadvantage, because it will prove the other NFL owners can do whatever they please to us as long as they hold their majority.
If I'm the Redskins or the Cowboys, why would I want to be part of a league that can change the rules to hurt me whenever they wish? If this goes without scrutiny, the NFL could conceivably arrange for us to never win a championship again.
It's like a bully, they will continue to push you around and keep you down until they get punched in the mouth.
As long as the NFL thinks it's untouchable they will continue to strongarm everyone.
Maybe this is what Aikman was talking about when he said there may be a time when the NFL won't be the top sport. Like Rome, corruption from within will kill it.
The Cowboys fans in my office, usually uninformed, are extremely up in arms about this too. This is unreal.
What if Goodell literally just got pushed from Mara/Kraft/other NFL owners to do this and he just went with the group?
Since this is ultimately his decision, he should still remain the scapegoat, but just throwing it out there.

This is exactly where my thoughts have been. The media coverage is helpful, but get this in front of the proper congressmen (and women) and have them investigate the NFL for antitrust violations and you will see the league office back down faster than you can imagine. Their system is corrupt and anti-competitive and they know it, and congressional oversight is something that the league fears as it would certainly kill their business model. This is an extremely risky move for the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Senate or House investigation of this issue. This is clearly collusion and there are a lot of Skins and Boys fans on Capitol Hill.
I would certainly reach out to the proper representatives and create awareness of the issue with them. I'm sure one well-placed phone call from an influencial senator would put this issue to bed very quickly.
The sports junkies right now....
Eric Bickel: "Why are the Bears not on the radar when they took a $34 million and gave it to Julius Peppers?"
Dan Wetzel: ......long pause.... "I don't know."
*everyone laughs*
This is rediculous.....
