Perhaps I am wrong but this is another reason the NFLPA should not be on board with this.
They shouldn't have signed on, no doubt. There's no way this money will be spent by the cheap teams anyway! But they obviously thought this was the ONLY way they were going to get a cap increase. Or something. If I were a skins or cowboys player, I'd be calling my league rep about now, especially if I were London Fletcher.
    Hail from Houston!

It is even possible that there are things that Snyder has signed w/ respect to how much authority the league has signed that some of the older owners haven't.
I don't think so Peter. While I agree with your statement in principle, we do know what is legal and it is certainly not legal to imply anything contractually and then try to have it stand up in court. You can't just have certain teams sign certain things because you have the Union in play and that would constitute something other then uniformed behavior among all players in the League. I think that certain things have to apply and one of those things must be that both teams (league) and players (union) agree to all cap related rules and regs.

With the new developments as of this morning, has Bruce Allen changed his tune at all? Has he said anything, for that matter, to change his rhetoric from last night? And this whole "competitive advantage" issue is just rotten to its core. It's insulting. What? So our competitive advantage helped obtain us the whopping, glorious records of 6-10 and 5-11. Please.

If someone wanted to push on the collusion argument, then if such language existed, said prosecution would likely claim that antitrust trumps any such contract language.

Honestly, if not for the media we may never know.

I honestly am starting to feel like a character in one of those thriller movies who is set-up and its all covered up and they seem crazy.

This **** is being swept under the rug. The NFL is not even going to make any more announcements. They are done with it.

We probably don't even have a way to appeal or even sue.

In 4 hours when FA starts national media attention is going to disappear.

And then it will be over . . . .

    We will be stuck saying "WTF just happened . . . . . ."

I haven't looked into that one in particular. I initially assumed it was an extension. I can say that as arbitrary as this has seemed it has not all been as arbitrary and conspiratorial as a lot of people are making it out to be. Not to defend it for even a moment. Just to clarify. There are enough conspiracy theories running rampant on this board.

While I think this is unfair, I think we've dodged a few bullets (Haynesworth tampering, GW fiasco)....I think we should threaten litigation and then try to quietly settle somewhere in the middle in the offseason.

That being said I think we need to focus on what we can do & cut the over the hill cap space eaters on the roster. I'm sorry, but you can drop Moss & Jamaal Brown now. Cooley can be asked to restrucutre or possible be waived and Hall can be shown the door if a trade isn't worked out. Thats a ton of cap space right there and do we actually lose much in terms of production? NO. Moss can and should be replaced. Brown is too injured to be effective. I thought Smith & Polumbus outplayed him last year. I love Cooley but he should be asked to restructure. Hall makes some plays, but you can get a cheaper cover guy and not lose much there....

That's awesome. But equally scary. I love the NFL as it is. As pissed off as I am and as much as I want a fight, I really don't want to become MLB.

alright, this tread has gone in circles enough times. I guess now we just wait a few more hours and see what happens.....and then in the days/months to follow. This won't end pretty.

NFL executives anticipate that penalized teams must notify the league of how much of the penalty they will assume in 2012 by the 4 p.m. deadline, as well, though that was not stipulated in the memo.
