Thanks Park City Skins. Wonder whether BA and MS were fully aware of the punishment (**** the league's wording, this is a punishment and there's no saying otherwise), and if so how long they have been aware of it. Also interested to see how they deal with it. Could it be possible that the Skins turn the other cheek on this one with the implicit understanding that Goodell somehow pays them back for something else later? I just don't see how any organization could be ok with the ex-post law enforcement precedent being set by this move. Maybe they were pissed at us and the Cowboys for front-loading contracts, but if you zoom out even a ****ing modicum you would see how this is the worst way to deal with the issue if you're a FO executive. ****.

Say we split it 18 this year and 18 next year. With the cap at around 120 million that means we have to be at ~100 million this season and if it was 125 next season we will have to be at 105.

The year after that the penalty will null. If the new cap that year is 130 million of cap space again which means an extra $25 million compared to other teams to spend on free agents.

So basically, we are being punished for 2 years, but once those two years are up we will be able to go on a spending spree again like were going to this season. However.... Rg3 may be killed by then by not being able to get good OL and WR in FA and Fletcher will likely be done too.

Sucks for us, but it's not super horrible.
rocks for the rams, though. Sudenly they have THREE top 6 picks, and what essentially boils down to an additional late round 1 pick (very top of round 2)

this sucks the business end of a donkey.

so the salary cap is like 120 million, say we take all the 36 million punishment this year, and then say the cap goes to 130 million, that means without doing anything we will have 46 million to spend, won't those colluding jealous owners have a problem with that, how will they punish us next? when does this end?

Correct. The FO knew this was going to happen soon enough to change course if they felt it was a game-changer. They didn't. And it makes sense that they didn't.

    sucks donkey anus.
I like how you're assuming that with this punishment, we are now guaranteed to have top-6 picks for the next few years. You have no idea what our FA plan is, or what it would have been without this punishment (that they knew was coming).

The only thing that has changed is our perception of the "the plan". That plan in all reality was already set in place knowing this would happen.

Those picks are a complete mystery. Any given Sunday, man.

It's collusive activity. It unjustly penalizes us $36 million dollars over two years. That is horrible, bottom line.

Some of you are missing the point.

It doesn't matter that the Redskins will be able to suffer through this unjust punishment.

We shouldn't have to, at least according to every definition I've heard of an "uncapped year" up until today.

This is why people are beyond pissed, not because the franchise is doomed forever lol

Possible side effects may include itchy retinas, congestion, lack of death, and runny genitals. Ask your personal physician about food interactions, as these may be lethal in time.

Consult a doctor if you grow a tail that doesn't fall off in the first 48 hours. Tails may be a sign of diabetes in older men, so use caution around sugar.

And the whole Peppers getting $35 million in 2010 pisses me off which would have ate up 25% + of the total cap had there been a cap that year. Where is Czar Goodell on this?

Assuming we can't get this repealed or lessened...

What's stopping us from eating the entire 36mil hit THIS year, while still signing all of our players and FA's to deals with small base salaries, that have bonuses and guarantees that come into effect the start of the 2013 league year?
I thought the same thing. Nothing is stopping them from doing it.
