It was a no-brainer to re-sign Rex. He knows the system and you won't have to devote precious time to teaching any QB the system but RGIII!

I don't think this is cap related. Similar things have occurred the past few years. Shanny & Bruce bring in 2nd & 3rd tier guys for visits and let them leave if they don't accept an offer they're comfortable with. I like that we're not overspending just for the sake of it, but also don't like that we continuously leave cap space open and drive a hard bargain on some of these guys who really have no reason to pick us over another team. There are some players out there to be had but it seems we become content too soon instead of taking advantage of the market. Last year for example there was no good reason to settle only for Chester on o-line but they did....The opportunity to build depth is there but they have to get a little more aggressive. If they let D. Bell sign elsewhere I'd be disappointed that $40+ MM in cap space turned into Garcon and and $18 MM cap hit.
The $18 million dollar cap hit is, quite literaly, not they're fault.
And they didn't "settle" on Chester. They drafted Hurt, signed Chester, bought in Willie Smith, signed Locklear, bought in Olsen (who unfortunatey we couldn't keep), and then added Polumbus during the season.
And the fact remains that we can't just give some of these guys what they want; by all accounts, Ross had a great visit with us and probably wanted to come here. But when Jacksonville throws $15 million at you, it's hard to regret it.
I'm sure Mike and Bruce push as hard as they can. They invited Royal out to a very expensive dinner, and Royal still left and took what's probably more money to be the third or fourth guy for the Chargers. i don't think we're just letting dudes walk; we're making the offers, they're liking what we're selling, and then other teams come in and outbid us for the kind of money they can't possibly refuse and we can't match, AND shouldn't match.
The fact is, we can't afford to be more aggressive, and that's a direct result of our cap hits. Bruce and Mike don't strike me as the kind of guys who sit back and wait for the guys they want to come to them. The trade up for RG3 proves that. I very much doubt that we're not being as aggressive as possible selling them our team. But thanks to the cap hit, more teams have more latitude to outbid us, while we're having to structure deals in a fashion in which in my be beneficial for the player but will help alleviate the stress of this monumental bull**** for the time being.

Ross isn't a big loss. A mid-round corner should be able to man the slot for cheaper and with more longevity.
Ross is not a good corner. His performance in the last few years wasn't that good on a team with a great pass rush. I hope the Jags are not planning on starting him. If so look for him to give up a ton of yards and TDs.
I've been watching some Jameel McClain highlights... what's the worry here? He isn't the best in coverage, but the fact that he's been in the scheme, maybe that's coachable.
Is there some off the field drama with the kid?

I mean, he seems like a stud human being. Big volunteer guy, spokesman for the Salvation Army... young, undrafted FA type. I'd talk to the guy and start seeing what it would take.

Is Leon Halls injury that serious that no one is looking at him? He was considerd 1 of the top corners in the league 2 years ago and is only 27yrs old.
Haha, LL is in rare form this morning, I see.LL @LL56_HTTR
#redskins fans that are upset about laron leaving need to wake up! Team is better off moving forward without him.

I got this from his wiki page. Did they release him?On September 2, 2011 Hall signed a 4 year contract extension worth $39 Million with $14.1 guaranteed. On November 13, Hall injured his achilles tendon in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the following day he was placed on injured reserve.
