Redskins (Multi-voting Poll) What QB Passing records will RG3 break his rookie season, as the **new** Washington Redskins QB?

A little premature, but what the hell.
I'm tired of concerning myself, with all this Capgate or Bountygate crap.

It's time to look at our future or better yet, Robert Griffin the 3rd's future here.

I thought about doing career records as well in this poll, but decided not too.
Maybe that's a poll, after he's been here for 4 or 5 yrs. But not now...

But Seasonal Records? (as a rookie?)
That is totally doable, when you consider we've been less than blessed @ the QB position unlike teams such as the Packers, Steelers, 49ers, Colts & others.

Point blank: The records here are not going to be unreachable for RG3 with this organization, like other teams would be.

Obviously, we all hope he breaks the Career #'s over just simply seasonal statistics, which will bring more obvious success than just seasonal #'s.

But we are all excited over the prospect, such as RG3.
I'm curious what you see as possible seasonal records, feasibly breakable.

Vote as many options you think RG3 could break, his rookie season here.
    Enjoy!

Note: There were other seasonal records I could have added, but some of them are from QB's listed above. I wanted to avoid having the same QB listed multiple times on the Poll. So I apologize for not being as detailed, as I wanted to be.

I see no poll. But I would vote rookie TD passes.

I want him to break this one. But we really don't have the team Pitt had then.

Most wins in a season, regular season and post-season, by a rookie starting quarterback: 15, Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers, 2004

Those are crazy numbers. RGIII isn't a running QB, he's a QB that can run... so I could see him breaking the rookie record for rushing yards and TDs by a Redskins QB. Other than that... those stats are pretty impressive.

I think it's very reasonable that he beat out Ramsey's and Campbell's rookie year stats, but I like to keep my expectations low and be dazzled rather than disappointed if he "only" throws for 3800 yards.

I think the QB rushing record for the Redskins, is Joe Theismann.
    Am I wrong?

314 yards rushing on 62 attempts.
RG3 might have that by week-8

Joe Theismann also had 4 rushing TD's.
    A season record I believe.

RG3 will probably obliterate the QB rushing records here in Washington.

How about we A. Draft him and B. See him take a few snaps before we start talking about rookie passing records?

Seriously I think we need to just take the foot off the throttle a bit. It's not impossible RGIII could struggle as a rookie as he adjusts to a new system and the much higher level of competition in the NFL. If he does lets give him time and in any case let's not weigh him down with perhaps unrealistic expectations.

If he goes out and has the kind of year Cam Newton had that would be fantastic. That kind of performance from a rookie QB is the exception though not the rule.

This. It's more likely that he spends the next 3 or 4 years trying to figure things out than breaking records.

I agree with this. Lets not throw a bunch of lofty expectations on the kid quite yet. Now thats not to say he won't have an amazing rookie year, but there is always a learning curve entering the NFL.

I believe RGIII will be better than Cam. He throws a beautiful ball and is a perfect fit for Shanny's offense. RGIII is intelligent, physically gifted, and motivated. After so many dismal seasons I see no reason for Skins fans not to be over the moon. Can't wait to get this season started!

Edit: The poll with QBs and records was added after I read the OP... but still confused about difference btwn Rypien's & Snead's records, any help?
I thought he was going up against other rookies in this poll. Those listed in the poll are records by QBs from their best season respectively?

Anyway, I'm not going to go crazy and think any rookie is gonna rock all/any of those records, but he might have his best shot at Jason Campbell's completion percentage. It's a good thing to have a full offseason to get the chemistry down with all the new WRs. I think RGIII has the skills to get it done. Throwing over 4,000+ yds in a rookie season sounds crazy difficult to me. So does 31 TDs. I think those are unreachable as a rookie, especially with a coach who really likes his running backs.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, what's the difference between Rypien's and Snead's records besides the season length in # of games? Does Rypien's % of attempts factor in all incomplete passes?
8.5 yds/pass (completion) sounds pretty good, but perhaps is another one that could be broken as a rookie.
17+ yds/pass sounds impossible to grab. Only way that happens is if Garcon is a complete beast and turns out to crush the league in YAC, which I hope he does, but still 17yds/pass avg sounds crazy to me.

He'll more than likely be running for his life behind his o-line. So I'll go with rushing TDs.

I voted for the middle 3.
The Jay Schroeder & Norm Sneed records will be tough.

I do think that 4,109 yards passing is reachable. Even as a rookie.
We are in a passing league now & it can be done.

What did Cam Newton pass for last season?

The Norm Sneed record will be tough to top, though.
