Damn, got swept this weekend. It's all good, because. They still hold the advantage in the division.
It's still early. Sometimes bats take a little to heat up. See Pujols. If we get to June with no improvement, I'll start to really worry.
Anyway, Harper is the real deal. The definition of a baseball player. We've hit the jackpot with him and Strasburg.
Yeah your right. 14-8 in April. We're still missing most of the bats and Harper is in game 2. Season is still young. They'll get it right.
The Dodgers are tough to beat at home. It's okay I think the Nats and Dodgers have a good chance of meeting each other again in the playoffs. Go Dodgers!
Maybe I'm overreacting a bit, but I just can't see how year in and year out this team has justified keeping Rick Eckstein around. Our hitting has been atrocious his entire time here.
"So I just say, 'I'm healthy right now, I'm going into my fourth year, and why not do the best that I can?' And that's whatever it is, whether it's eating right or training myself right, whether it's studying harder, whatever I can do to better myself."-RIP to the best safety the world has ever seen.
The bats need to heat up because the amazing starting pitching won't continue forever
I agree with you.
It would be easier to think the hitting would get better if we were adjusting to a different approach at the plate. Its the same song as last season, tons of strikeouts, very few walks. When you don't have multiple 25-30hr guys in your roster, that kind of philosophy is a disaster waiting to happen.
DC Sports: The Curse Is Real
ANY team missing their 3 and 4 hole hitters, especially such good ones like Zimmerman and Morse, is going to struggle offensively.
"In 2012 the Redskins are gonna be the NFC East champions, and that starts right f–king today.” Kyle Shanahan, 1/1/12
A hitting coach can only have as big an impact as the players will allow in the big leagues. Most players know what they're doing right and know what they're doing wrong, but it's tough to break bad habits having a game everyday. The guys that make it to the bigs know what they're doing at the plate; other than minor adjustments, a hitting coach doesn't have much effect on hitters. Throughout the years all anyone has ever said about Eckstein is how good of a baseball guy he is, so I have a hard time believing he's at fault for how bad our hitting has been.
Zimmerman has always been good at the plate, Dunn was good with us, Morse came out of nowhere with us, Willingham was good with us. Eckstein definitely wasn't the reason why all these guys were (are) good hitters, which I why I don't think he can be blamed for everybody else struggling.
Like I kept saying, the bats are going to do us in. We don't get them humming, we're going to find ourselves on the wrong side of .500 again.
My home town was carved out of swampland.
@chthomas91
when you don't have your 3-4-6 hitters not playing, you are due for a loss. thank god we got those early Ws because it is going to be tough the next week with zone and phlly
Harper can't develop on the bench as a role player like Lombardozzi. When Morse gets back, does Ankiel get benched? Werth to RF, Harper CF and Morse in LF? How is that going to work?
Why we no win no more?
