“I’m probably not going to come back this year,” Rendon said Monday while attending Rice practice at Reckling Park. “It wouldn’t make any sense to come back and play the last month and try and do something big.”
Well that ****ing blows
Edwin Jackson is probably the most inconsistent pitcher we have right now. And he's been pretty solid, so that's saying something.
HRod is fine. He's done well more than he's screwed up. As long as we keep ourselves out of those 1 or 2 run games he can be just fine 3/4 of the time until Storen is ready next month.
Question: what's LaRoche's contract status for next year? I think I remember something about there being a team option for a third year? If not, we should maybe start offering him an extension before he plays himself into a bigger $$$ deal (I'm thinking 2 years 20 mil).

LaRoche will make $15 million in the first two years of his contract, $7 million this season and $8 million the next. He and the Nationals have a mutual option for 2013. If LaRoche stays with the Nationals, he'll make $10 million.
The Nationals, though, could buy him out for $1 million instead. In effect, LaRoche will make $16 million over two years or $25 million over three.

Awesome, thanks for posting that GoSkins. Pretty sure he'll be back next year if he keeps this up!

If it's mutual then I think there's a chance Laroche could want to test the open market. He'll be 33 in November so most likely it would be his last big contract. For one more year I'd definitely keep him but long term I don't know if I'd give him big bucks as he's going to decline soon and we already have a lot of $ spent on other guys and will need more to spend in the future on our other young stars(J-Z, Storen, Strasburg, Harper, etc.).

33 is too old to give big contracts.
McCutchen is killing us.

I think we keep LaRoche if he's willing. I think Moore is our only capable 1B in the minors, right? Not sure we have seen that he's ready, yet.
I would have liked to see Flores get the night off before the weekend beltway series. He's caught quite a bit since Ramos went down.
FREE THE HOG!!!
If Strasburg were allowed to pitch against our lineup, he would challenge the strikeout record.
