No. I don't see that as an option.

If you go back several pages in this thread, you'll see a discussion about that very topic. In short, arm strength, leg strength, muscle memory are all working in unison on every pitch. You don't just shut that down and restart it when you want to.

    Understood.

Well, I guess it maybe for the best. We shouldn't work him too hard. Need to preserve that arm.

If that happens, hopefully the rest of our starting rotation will pick up the slack. Gio seems to be in a good groove, at least, and Jordan Zimmermann is pretty steady. If we keep hitting the way we've been hitting lately, it may not be a big deal at all.

As a baseball fan in general I would like to see Stras have a lomg career and as painful as it might be, being as cautious with him as possible is a smart move IMO.

When I think about Stras, I think of Mark Pryor. That guy had the same nasty stuff, but his career was shortened because of injuries.

This is the first year of what should be a good stretch of sustained success on the field. Our top 3 pitchers are all 26 or younger, no need to mess that up going forward by pushing Stras past the innings limit. It will suck to shut him down, but I'm more than ok with it.

Bingo. People shouldn't get upset when they shut him down for the season.

Well be fine without SS in the regular season. Where it would hurt would be the playoffs if we made it, but we'll cross that bridge if and when we get there.

JZimm must be tired of not getting run support, so he says **** it, I'll just do it myself then. I love this team, and especially love our starting rotation. Pure awesomeness to watch.
