WTF is up with Washington fans?? Every time I see a game live for the Skins, Caps, or Nats, the crowd is always just so ehh. There isn't much passion compared to other venues I have gone to. There is nothing but ppl making small talk the whole time and ppl walking up and down the isles in the middle of a pitch (I ******** HATE THAT **** and this is especially true of Nats games). Nobody got into the game except when the Nats scored. No cheers after Gio was throwing strikes or nothing. It's like the fans are just there to be there. Us Yankees were 100x louder the whole time. I just can't stand that about DC fans sometimes. I feel like we have wayyyy too many wine and cheese fans. (and please despite my Yankee allegiance, I am DMV born and bred)
This is moronic. It reminds me of the time I was at a caps canes game the year the caps won their first division title with ovi, and this canes fan was telling me that the canes fans were "rabid" at home and the caps fans were not into the game. 5 years later everyone agrees Verizon center is the best or one of the best hone ice advantages in the league.

Visiting fans always think their fans are louder.

The problem is that these games against teams like the yankees are events that people want to go to claim that they want too. For example, the Nats on a regular night is rocking and the orioles series was rocking because people who went wanted to watch baseball, not just be there. The problem has always been this in the dc area.

If you pull for the Yankees and grew up in DC there is a 99% chance you're a douche. That's been my experience anyway.

The Nats are new to D.C. Fans are still being developed. I remember when Caps fans would routinely get out numbered by Philly/Pittsburgh fans, and they had been around for years and had been to a SCF.

Maybe your section had a lot of Yankee fans, but I was at the game too, and I didn't think it was that bad. Yankee fans were definitely a minority - no more than 20-25% of the crowd. And while the game was still close, there were clearly more cheers from Nats fans than Yankees fans. There were definitely loud cheers for Gio's strikeouts and when the Nats got runners on base. Morse made a great catch in right field that fired up the crowd. There was a collective groan when Desmond hit into that double play. I didn't feel like the Yankee fans were really loud at all until the 7th inning when the Yankees broke the game open.

...it's not Fenway or Yankee Stadium, but it was a big sellout crowd, with many more Nats fans than Yankee fans, and I thought it was a great atmosphere.

No Desmond today. Danny to play SS and Lombo at 2nd. Wonder who plays in LF. Roger? Ankiel?

Maybe Roger in center, Bryce in right, and Morse in left. That's my guess anyway.

I don't take Yankees fans not from NY seriously. The bandwagon is just unreal.

Kilgore was wrong and Desmond is playing today. Davey hinted that he wouldn't play the rest of this weekend

The Nats didn't get a guy past 2nd after the third inning or something. The ninth didn't matter. What would you have liked them to cheer about? Seemed pretty loud to me on TV during the first inning with the 2 Gio K's and Harper diving catch.

I know Zimm is a little prone to giving up the long ball, at least the most among our starters, so hopefully it'll be managed today. Don't want to see the Yankees go to town on him.

    Nice quick inning to start.

I'm not limiting it to the Nats, I notice it at FedEx too

cuz clearly we've had a baseball team here since the 90s (when I started playing baseball, right?), by the time the Nats were a team, I had been going to Yankee Stadium for years...I can't root for **** that isn't there

so you picked the yankees who were in their dynasty instead of the Orioles who play locally? gotcha!

I am not saying you are a douche or nothing, that is taking it a little too far,

    But just answer me this....

Out of all the teams, why did you pick the Yankees?

Traffic around here (Waterfront/Navy Yard) is unreal. Took me 15 minutes to go three blocks....

    1. Deep passionate, irrational hate for all things Baltimore (taught to me by my Ravens/Colts hating family at a young age) so the O's were out (except Cal Ripken...and they have a beautiful park as well)
    2. 6 year old watching baseball in 1999...who is on tv mostly?
    3. Grandpa was from NY and he took me to OYS and I was hooked...

and I know you weren't being hostile, it's cool. We as baseball fans need to stick together and keep the sport going strong here.
