Yeah, I have no problems keeping Espi in place for another season; just wish he would cut down on the K's. As for the Soriano deal, I like the player, just wish he was a lefty.

Desmond had K issues in his second season as well. At this point, you have to trust the front office -- they have earned that trust.

I'm not an Epsi hater but he's the weakest link in our line up at this point. Just throwing out hypotheticals. I do agree he could very well turn out to be a good player for us, and that I'd trust the FO with anything at this point.

The catcher (Suzuki or Ramos) is the weakest link in our lineup. Espinosa has a cannon and +range, and has +power at the plate. He can steal 20+ bases.

From what I was reading (Nationals Baseball Blog), Soriano apparently bitched a bunch when he wasn't closing in New York, when Rivera was healthy. Let it affect his performance, and if you look at his stats, his ERA was 4.12 in 2011 when he wasn't closing, and 2.26 in 2012 when he was. Point is, knowing that track record of whining, I can't imagine he was brought here to do anything except pitch the 9th. I wouldn't be shocked if the Nats are looking to pair Storen with Morse for an upgrade somewhere.

If it's to the Yanks, who seem like they just had a hole open up because we went out and signed Soriano away from them, Rizzo's brilliance level is at the supreme level.

I'd rather deal Clippard and have Storen be the set up man, but perhaps Rizzo thinks Storen will be permanently damaged Brad Lidge style after last season's meltdown.

My thinking is this. Storen is two years younger, on a friendly contract, and has the expectation of being the closer. Clippard is already used to being the 8th inning guy, used to deferring to Storen. Of the two of them, I would think Storen would be more likely to be disgruntled if the job is given to Soriano. His age and contract would also make him more appealing to other teams. If we put either of them into a deal, I expect Storen will be the guy to go.

    According to MLB Network,

MLB Network speculation - Morse, Storen, and Espinosa to the Yanks for R. Cano.
