I think there are some GM's out there who would have played Strasburg.

I just don't see that being a comparable situation you can make projections based off.
Totally agree, this could last for a while. But, my comment was more around the chance that it could go the other way just as easy and the danger of the "there is always next year" thoughts. That baseball is a funny game and that things that look golden have rotted on the vine in the past.

No doubt teams would've pitched him, but I just don't get why GMs would hate him for it?

Like I said, knowing that another GM did something like this would have to influence how they work in the future.

If Strasburg comes back next year and stays healthy while staying dominant, people will point to him and Jordan Zimmerman and say that this is how you treat pitchers coming of TJ surgery.

Right but I guess as a GM you need to think short and long-term. While I don't necessarily agree with the Nats shutting him down, I can understand why they are doing it.

You know the saying.... haters gonna hate.

I know I am kind of bias, but you have to not pitch Strasburg in this situation. I rather look like an idiot with a healthy Strasburg than look like an idiot with a banged up Strasburg. I don't know why FOs are so mad, but they need to get of Rizzo's back. If they want to pitch their pitchers to hell, let them do it.

    Anyways....

My goodness, the most important game in our franchises history, and I am going to be stuck at school in a stupid Computer Science class.

Gone, but not forgotten... RIP RP

I think that's part of it.

I think people also hate Rizzo because of the money he's paid prospects. The Nats rocked the boat with a new way of doing business: pay for prospects to get elite talent in your farm and build from within. It's almost an NFL style model of teambuilding. And it's something that should have been ****ing obvious for teams to do years and years ago, but baseball is such a stupidly conservative game they'll stick with a retarded status quo until the end of time. "Hmmm it's better to pay Anthony Rendon 6 million, Bryce Harper 6 and a half, and Goodwin 3 million, than Carl Crawford 142 million and Adrian Gonzalez 154 million? DERP!"

I think signing Werth and pursuing Pujols, Fielder, and Texeira also pissed people off because they would be happy with the status quo and don't like seeing a new power with huge spending potential enter the market. They don't like that the Nats can now drive up prices on free agents, and having a buddy buddy sort of relationship with Scott Boras hasn't made the FO any friends.

Probably hate him for the fact the Nationals lucked into Harper, Rendon, and Stras too and they are flat out jealous.

And Rizzo is a bold man who doesn't mince his words.
